so i'm reading the back of my reduced fat yet surprisingly satisfying Chips Ahoy cookies bag when all of a sudden i glimpse microwaving directions in the upper right corner.
microwaving dry cookies? won't they just get gross and brittle?
never one to turn down an experiment, i did just as instructed: three cookies for 20 seconds. ever the skeptic, i paced in front of the machine as it hummed in its duties, scoffing at the strange notion of prepackaged, baked perhaps even before the dawn of this century in the bowels of some stale factory, and they tell me to microwave it? insult to injury as far as i could see it.
and then i opened the microwave door.
and got a whiff of the newly warmed contents.
and took a bite before screaming in ecstacy and jumping in sheer joy, trying to keep crumbs from flying out of my mouth as i laughed and laughed in giddy excitement.
they tasted good. really good.
like almost homemade good.
color me astonished and taught another assumption lesson.

braved the dreaded "lone meal" and ate lunch at broward

had a pleasant chat with our good man behind the counter who expressed concern for the whereabouts of my "partner in crime." miranda's officially home for passover, and mazel tov to her and hers. and as a bit of a vicarious partaking, i enjoyed (!!) a matzoh in celebration. matzoh, for those not of the know, is among the more tasteless foods this world has to offer, but with a little banana or a smidge of mustard, most anything can be remedied.
