tonight, I celebrate freedom
Dec. 14th, 2002 02:39 amThe freedom of debt so that I can have what I really want right now just then.
The freedom of being physically capable of doing whatever nutty thing comes to fancy, whether it's leaping median blocks or flying 700 miles or so with the biggest irritation being the five children around me.
The freedom of living in a country big and diverse enough in its landscapes that I can go to a radically different place without the hassle of passports or disease-averting injections.
The freedom of being on my own, where I'm able to set my own schedule and make my own choices without it having to jibe with anyone else's or their desires.
The freedom to worship "false" idols if I so choose.
The freedom to be able to walk down the street unpersecuted for whatever myriad reasons people are persecuted because it's New York City, not because the laws prohibit it.
My lucky stars have been accounted for tonight in spades. I may not have found what I'm looking for yet, but desires and anxieties are a good way to sated.
