There's a whole lotta well-documented (and rumored with varying degrees of credibility) canon out there. Catching up on popslash, even just the *NSYNC-relevant portions, at this point is comparable to jumping into The X-Files during season six. I loved it when people asked me to quickly sum it up for them - more often than not, I'd laugh first, but there were a fairly encompassing few sentences I could string together. Could do the same for popslash at this point, but I realize now that I'd be doing it without the *actual* background knowledge.
Seriously,
canalbaby is a goddess among mere mortals for her undertaking of the timeline project, so comprehensive as to log the almost daily comings/goings/doings of the boys since 1997 (at last count, it stood at 148 pages). Reading through it like a novel would be mostly pointless because of the sheer volume of raw information.
There should be a class, yo, that takes each time period and breaks it down by work schedule, pairings evidence, media coverage trends, fandom atmosphere. Because facts are facts, but there are a lot of facts, and very little to interpret them. In the meantime, maybe I'll just go through and color-code.
