Look ma, I wrote. Because I shouldn't be sleeping or nothin'.

Because something happy had to come out of this gloomy day of yet more JC album snafus. Lambs in a hammock. For [livejournal.com profile] powrhug, because she suggested, and that's really all it takes sometimes.

'Aaw, baby, come on. You know I'll make it worth your while,' Justin drawled. )

There's really no ruining my good mood today.

Barring a mid-afternoon crash. Which seems highly plausible, as I've been awake since 6:30 after having had exactly two and a half hours of sleep. However, this has been abated for at least the moment with a good iced vanilla latte and a bagel (all for only $3.95!)

I really do love the first day of school. (see icon) I feel all snazzy in my low-slung corduroys, red flip-flops, and white girly oxford over black tank top. Preppy can be sexy, too, yo. The boobs admittedly help.

So I incorrectly remembered that they start ticketing orange parking at seven, but this ended up being of the good because had I gotten to the Transportation office twenty minutes later, I would've had exactly 2309482305723 people in line in front of me instead of just two. A balmy, boring hour later I have a shiny new Red 1 decal. Not that this solves my parking dilemma - and we thought last semester was impossible. I'm trying very hard to chalk this up to still-unenforced parking regulations, freshmen mistakenly thinking that Red 1 zones apply for Red 3 decals as well, and everyone going to their first-week classes, which is at least guaranteed to abate soon enough.

In a bid of final farewell to any prospect of making it to New York next weekend, I also consummated by year-long infatuation with Sony's minidisc player. It sits all silver and pretty ready for me to install the software and make all that carpark trekking a whole lot more enjoyable.

Mmm, pretty frat boys on the bus ride to the Hub.

And I wrote last night! Something I still don't hate! Seriously kids, everyone should be this easy to please.

It was all fabulous until it really, really wasn't.

I've got the head of the Journalism department for History of Journalism who is the coolest, funniest professor ever ever, Advertising promises to be eminently interesting, and I even got an override to switch into a class necessary for my major instead of the dreaded mile-long, five-day-a-week hike French would've been.

And then I went to Reporting.

Four hours later, I emerged dejected, overwhelmed, and very much doubting why I went in there in the first place. That class is going to be my final three-week project in MMC 2100 every. single. week. Plus other work! It's all independent work stuff and deadlines and strict accountability and yes, this is what I signed up for, but damn, all at once. Plus, real journalists don't have four other classes on top of all that.

And with that, I am off for hugs and tea over at chez Miranda, wherefrom this bit of icon loveliness hails as well, because she loves the song. Justin's falsetto will seduce us all yet.
