Sucks. Like, a lot "" and then some. On a related note, does anyone know any good software to rip the audio from a video file? Windows ME platform. Much obliged. Because damn, that BMA performance of Just Got Paid and the Ananda Lewis Pop? Yeah. In a big way.

Otherwise having a lovely day. Have resigned myself to going to sleep at 12:30 and waking up at 8:30 because wow, my body seems to really, really like it. I don't think I've slept this well in years. Continuing to utterly trump every attempt of MiniDisc software to foil me. Will go grocery shopping and possibly actually make it to Orlando today. It's a beautiful day for a drive.

Oh! Happiest of birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] plum_evil - did you know Justin requested DragonCon tickets? The big dork. Just like us! ;) Have a great day, kid. And when you get a chance, drop me a line - I need to interview you for this week's article. Isn't that special?

I only pretended to think twice about jumping on board. With thanks to [livejournal.com profile] walkingshadow for the icon because he is, yo.

From this year's All Star game. Inside the unabashedly confident, undeniably talented international supahstah lurks this goofy, darling goober whose first priority remains having fun. He's fantastic at what he does as La Timberlake, but he's also damn good at being just Justin, too.

Fic rec - I'm going to try valiantly not to rec the Sandys with too alarming a frequency this month, but it will be very, very difficult, and today is definitely not the day to start:

Your Life Is Now - Sandy Keene (first in the Many Houses of Wood series)

The doctor tells you the same thing the doctors back at the hospital said. You'll be scarred for life, except for the ones on your head that will fade. Your headaches will maybe never go away and they can only give you some medication for the occasional migraines. Your amnesia is a combo platter of physical damage and psychological trauma and you might never remember anything else. Other than that, you're fine.

I adore this series. Justin struggling to get back to himself and evolving into a (yes, Sandy-skewed, but my point stands) sort of 'purer' version thereof, in particular less the muck his life has built up on him. Discovering the others through Justin's relearning them was beautiful, too. I love the compassion in the Sandys' pieces, that their Justin is good (and not just at some subversive core) because I believe he sincerely is the lovely things they attribute without sweeping (if not actively incorporating) his faults under the rug. Justin so often gets shortchanged in fandom, pigeonholed or scapegoated or marginalized for whatever reasons, but some of the times I'm always reminded how wrong those who do are are when I'm watching him in footage or reading the Sandys' stuff.
