The day began in a flurry of comments, IMs and texting about the permanence in transience idea - it's cool to have other people interested in it as well. It's amusing that Isi and I independently came up with the idea of JC in a gas station. Lots of notes, to be hopefully fleshed out this weekend.

Upon opening the OrliBean promised to Ri months and months ago, I realized just how close it is to completion - which is to say, done save for the porn in the middle. But it's so good! I'm reading and I'm all, damn, cool. So, sex. Soon.

I totally scored the very last issue of Britney's Rolling Stone within this entire township. Took me four bookstores (really cool to see Sandy's letter in Bitch magazine, whee!), one Walgreens, one Specs, and finally an Albertson's, where I emerged victorious. Plus some beef jerky and berry-flavored gummy Life Savers. Score! Also, the song Roll To Me by Del Amitri came on the in-store radio, and my singing along was entirely latent tongue memory because there was no brain action involved. I just *knew* the words. When was that popular, sixth grade? Damn. Good song though.

Miranda and I took the end-of-week party downtown. While waiting the outrageous wait that is Dragonfly on, really, any given night, a boy came in. He was all rockstah!glasses, spiked hair, artfully worn jeans, get this: JC's "I [heart] You" sparkly black sleeveless shirt from the Celebrity tour. We, predictably, squeed and squeed.

Sometime during our delicious sushi dinner, I had occasion to fantasize about living with Lance in a roommate capacity. I think it was based around how much I love dogs and how I would take great care of Jackson. This immediately devolved into my making coffee in the morning and drinking it at the island counter with JC then Lance wandering in, sleep-rumpled in his white shirt and boxers, rubbing at his eyes and ineffectually trying to flatten his hair on the side it's all askew. It's quite simply the most adorable image I've come across in a while.

Starbucks was predictably fabulous as well. It is, after all, Gingerbread Latte season. We talked lots more, interspersed with Trivial Pursuit and a little interlude with a French-speaking boy on the sofa next to us. Mmm, I do love me the Francais. Still understand a very encouraging amount of it, too.

Miranda came back to my place mostly willingly, where we watched lots of footage and laughed yet more. She promises that she'd be in for more of the same tomorrow, which I can only do my proper fannish duty and oblige.

I'm telling you, man, our boys get the gay jokes and Backstreet get the music snark. It's... an interesting distribution. Wonder how the sides were chosen. I can just see the staff sitting around discussing the merits of these ideas with absolute seriousness. Or you know, utter irreverence.

Apparently, Lance is going to model, at the notion of which I am swooning like a corseted mid-19th century maiden. Because honestly, what do you do with that?

I am such an 80s baby, even if I am pushing legal. Three days, man. Madness!

I love his expression here, the slight awe and maybe longing. That there are ways in which Justin is just like any of us. I think we might be back to my thing about Justin wanting, but it's somehow more poignant when it's someone who can pretty much have anything he wants. It's the things that are truly out of reach for him, so while we may want something, it's probably not as impossible or intangible as his.

Passage by Lesa Soja

"Why don't you bring this boy over so I can meet him," Justin's mom said, and his heart jumped inside him. His mom was the coolest - she'd let him do voice lessons, and the pageant, and the Mouse Club, lots of things he'd wanted and most mothers would never go for. But he'd been nervous all over again asking her for this.

"You're gonna like him, Mom, I promise," he said, throwing his arms around her neck. She squeezed him tight and kissed his forehead.

"I'll like any friend of yours, baby," she said. "So let's just see how this goes."

I really liked that this story spanned the European timeline, whether taken from snippets we know or just pictures floating around. It was also my first brush with the insinuation of Lynn/Chris, a concept I find so very, very intriguing in its potential effects on Justin.
