Because I never miss an opportunity to wax poetic about it. If anything makes me go fangirl faster than the boys, it's my car.
1. What vehicle do you drive?
A red 1997 Ford Mustang GT convertible. Manual shift, kickin' speaker system, leather interior, a wet dream-inducing number of power buttons, CD player. It's this beautiful piece of sporty machinery that starts up with a growl and purrs like a big cat while running. It's also, like, the quintessence of Americana, an aspect I really enjoy about it.
You know, people talk about how Ford makes such lame cars and constant maintenance this and break down that, but I've never had serious trouble with mine in all our five years together. It's taken me almost 80,000 miles total (less about 18,000 because we bought it used) and I can only hope it holds out for another few hundred thousand or more. I love it beyond all reason and to the point where most any other car impresses me not at all. Being cruised in high school was beyond amusing.
2. How long have you had it?
Got it for my sixteenth birthday. My father asked what kind of car I would like - figuring it was more of a token gesture, I went for broke and asked for it. Imagine my surprise when he actually took me seriously. Anyway, that makes it five years this October.
3. What is the coolest feature on your vehicle?
It's a convertible. I remember having bad days at school and having it all dissipate within the first ten seconds after putting the top down and cranking the music up. Twenty if it was something serious.
4. What is the most annoying thing about your vehicle?
The trunk is really, really small. I know, cry me a fucking river, right? *g* It also gets no gas mileage whatsoever - around 200 in the city, 300 on the freeway on one tank. And it has only one cup holder. I'm done! I'm done!
5. If money were no object, what vehicle would you be driving right now?
Forgoing the fact that I love my car, covet it in any parking lot even though I know it's mine, and will drive it till the day it simply won't have any more? A Ferrari Modena 360 or an Aston Martin, maybe a BMW Z3. Yeah, I'm a sports car queen. There are worse sins.
