Horrific accident on Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway | Gulf News
-Most of these stories miss the point, that while yes, there is more traffic, people here are reckless beyond belief, speeding everywhere, all the time, using turn signals as a last resort when they can't cut someone off, ignoring pedestrians and generally treating the street as though they were alone.
Dolphin rescues stranded whales | CNN
-Awesome.
GoDaddy silences police-watchdog site RateMyCop.com | Threat Level
-Ugh, how ridiculous.
Police: Family attacks TV news crews | CNN
-This is what I lived in fear of every day on the cops beat.
Starbucks barita donates left kidney to longtime customer | KIRO Seattle
-I'm lucky not to get a dirty look when I ask them to heat the milk to a proper temperature for a latte to be more than lukewarm.
Internet for pornography, not voting: ex Polish PM | The New York Times
-Bwahahaha. I have no WORDS.
Football star, 17, slain before he could answer gang | CNN
-The comments on this story are fascinating. Everyone's got a solution to how the young man's death could have been prevented - more police, gun control, stop illegal immigration. I have no answers of my own, but theirs show how complex a problem can be, and how varied the solutions.
Also, random technology shoutout: Tab Groups keeps me sane, and that's not an overstatement. It organizes my hundred(s, sometimes. OK, usually.) tabs in FireFox into folders that I can name. There's the daily stuff, then things I've set aside to read, sites I can't visit at work but want to keep up with and self-help things that require effort on my part are my main categories. Others arise as needed. It's drag-and-drop, so any tab opened in another folder can be moved, and the folders are static so no need to reassemble in the unlikely event I crash Winston.
