If a girl (or two) were to be in New York on the 18th and 19th of December, where would they be wise to make their lodgings?

Just wonderin'.

Eee! Great airfare and face-value tickets and New York and how this all happened I'm not entirely sure, but eee!

I stayed at the Comfort Inns Manhattan this past summer for 5 days. It was the cheapest, most decent hotel that I could find. Clean, friendly staff, centrally located, 2 blocks from the empire state building, down the block from Macy's. Just don't stay in a room facing the street, it's a bit loud.

There is a Howard Johnson on 51st i think that wasn't too bad, I have friends that stayed there. Things are just more expensive this time of year

And see, I love the sounds of New York and if I want to sleep, that's all there is to it. *g* Thanks for the heads up.

Things are outrageously expensive this time of year. I can't believe I got airfare for what I did, much less the room - 38th and Avenue of the Americas, $204 for two nights. Madness! *g*

That actually isn't that bad of a price for hotel! I can't believe you got such a cheap flight! The JC gods are shining on you LOL. Hope to see you there

If money's a real issue, you might want to stay in NJ -- Hoboken, Newark, Jersey City, or Newport/Pavonia (part of Jersey City) -- you're looking for a hotel that claims to be within walking distance of a PATH train, which you would then take to the 14th street station and walk to Irving Plaza :)

I thought about that since hotels close to Newark are so much less expensive, but we're getting in a day early to scour the city and have not really had to make sense of the subway system, so the place I found is literally smack in middle of midtown. Nice and central to everything, foolproof for cabbies and minimizing subway hassles. But thanks for the pointer, I'd like to eventually make it to Jersey as well, esp. the boardwalk. ;) Will you be making it out to either of the shows?

[livejournal.com profile] sarahq and I will be at the show at Irving Plaza, along with a nonsparkly friend of ours who thinks that JC is nifty :) Must remember to post a "hey, I'll be wearing *foo*" type post so people can find us! I'll be the short stacked brunette dyke with my hair back in a bandanna and [livejournal.com profile] sarahq will be the tall svelte blonde dyke who's wearing Sensible Shoes. :)

Well then! *g* I'll be the tall, pale brunette wearing about a thousand layers and still looking cold, and with me will be Schiz, the tallish Asian girl probably in glasses and definitely in an elaborate scarf. I'll post my number closer to the event - meeting up would be great. When do you plan on getting there? How cold should we expect it to be?
