We got our French essays back yesterday. Apparently, I have a tendency to be too literal in my translation. This should come as no surprise to anyone who's met me. What's funny is that, as concrete-thinking as I am, I'm great at navigating and know what direction I'm facing virtually at all times. *shrug*

Went to a lecture entitled Gay and Lesbian Representations in the Media last night, and wow. I just. Wow. For years, homicidal lesbians running a nursing home was practically the norm! They put this on television! And thought nothing of it! Whatever your opinion of Queer As Folk, we've come a long way. Gotta love those 90s.

The DJ in the Union amphitheater was spinning Sunglasses At Night when it got out. First time hearing it, too, which is sad. I need to get in much better touch with my 80s roots.

The Gator Nights film was Peter Pan so Miranda finally got to see it, and while she wasn't entirely swept off her feet, I remain as enamored as ever. Jeremy Sumpter is positively enchanting.

The ex-boy finally roped me into a hockey game this afternoon, and dude. Dude! Hockey rocks! He gave me a crash course on the rules, and we watched the entire playoff game between Tampa Bay and New York. Ice skating happens to be an old love of mine, though I only ever did the figure kind. But watching these guys? I totally missed a calling. It's really cool when done right, all kinds of mad maneuvering and fancy footwork and graceful technique. Oh, and checking is fun too.

So, in honor, the Word of the Day is Khabibulin, the goalie for the Tampa Bay Lightning. His nickname is the Bulin Wall! Ahahaha! I'm so in love.

Quotes of the Day:

Interviewer: "...And you're gay?"
Carter: "Except for one night back in college when I was really drunk."
-Spin City

"I don't much like the futon. It doesn't know whether it is a couch or a bed - it is like the bisexual of furniture!"
-Josh

[ETA: OMG, they're singing together at Challenge. I won't survive, I just won't. We held our breath all last year, but with Justin being sick and everything else, but this. JC said it! Together! I am all of fourteen years old right now, and probably will devolve back to it whenever I so much as think about this for the next three months.]

OMG, they're singing together at Challenge. I won't survive, I just won't.

You and me both. Seeing them all together is one thing but seeing them perform together would be so amazing. I may weep happy tears. *is such a fangirl*

I let out a squee that echoed throughout the whole house when I first heard the news.

*scratches head* The guys all sing together at Challenge? Like, every year or just this year?

Oh, we all held our collective breaths and could only hope last year, but no dice since Justin was sick and other factors. They never said they would though. They usually have big-name musician friends at the game who step up and perform, like Nelly, Brian McKnight, B2K, etc. But the main thing is, before this past couple of years, they've always done Challenge in the middle of their tour schedule, so mostly, Challenge was supposed to be a break for them. They didn't in Orlando because Lance wasn't there, they didn't for various and sundry reasons (though we hoped against hope until the end) last year, but this is crazy amazing and beyond exciting and my god, I really really won't survive it at all. *sigh*

*lives in hope*

I've never seen them perform together live, not counting the Grammies since that was on television. But I remember that night, sitting on the floor clutching my remote and damn near tears in my happiness at seeing them together. This will undo me completely, it really will.

I hope so, too! And JC's not going to miss it because of his touring schedule, is he?

No way at all. JC will be there - the only one of them who's ever missed has been Lance at Challenge IV, when he couldn't get out of training in Russia.

Whoo! Can't wait.

I fully expect you and the rest of LJ to be squeeing loud enough for me to hear - I'll be in Florida that weekend, but on the other side of the state. :)

You'll be on the west coast!? Dude, it's only an hour and a half across the Alley if you drive right. You simply must find a way, if it's at all feasible in your schedule.

I'll be just south of Tampa. Is the drive really that easy?

Oof, not from Tampa, no. I thought you meant you were going to be in Naples, which is just across the Alley from Sunrise. But it's about four hours from Tampa. Bah.

I'm honestly thinking of renting a car on Friday, driving to wherever for the events on Saturday and Sunday, and then heading back west and hitting Tampa for JC's show there the next week. I just can't stomach the idea of being in Florida and not seeing everybody...
