It's something that exists in glossy brochures and history books and traveler's stories of fine wine and grand architecture and priceless art.
I had the exact same reaction when I realized I had tickets to Paris my hand last year. Paris is this dream, an unreal state ... until you get there and you see the Eiffel Tower at night glowing like a beacon.
It's not a fantasy, you're not dreaming and you're saying things like, "Um. That's the Eiffel Tower. You know, The. Eiffel. Tower." And then you proceed to do the same thing when you see the Mona Lisa, Arc d'Triomphe and Versailles.
