Frances isn't supposed to be here for another two days at least, but you wouldn't know it by the thunderstorm going on outside. Man, living in Florida, I've seen rain, but this is looking minimum tropical-storm caliber with those winds and the total lack of visibility. *hugs Miranda close* She thinks she's going to class in it, but she's mistaken.
Went to bed around 8:45 this morning thinking my alarm will wake me for Ethics at ten. Aren't I cute? Yeah, that's what I thought too while rolling out of bed around one.
Never mentioned why I did that fandom roundup, eh? I haven't really commented on any fandom news in about two and a half weeks, because reading LJ has been a two-hour-per-night exercise of reading personal posts, updating my own journal, saving pictures, and leaving any fannish news as an open tab because that's all I had time for. Needless to say, that could only go on for so long, and I didn't get to it this weekend given the general listlessness and denial of the bitterness I was in fact harboring over the Desk Chief issue, but this morning nobody could stop me. Paid the price later, but this felt more important to make right. My world needs sparkles, damnit.
It seems Thanksgiving's come early. I'm just so happy with my living arrangements and the way this semester worked out. Not to mention my imminent smugness when the new Desk Chief turns out to be an incompetent heel.
*ahem*
Anyhow. Things I'm grateful for:
- Oregon Trail on my computer (thank you,
trollprincess)
- Being able to eat midnight dinner with Miranda in our kitchen and talk about things that slipped our minds/we just didn't have words for earlier in the day.
- Staci. For being herself. Couldn't love her any more than I do, and every time she wants me to not answer the phone or take me to aerobics or just plain old put me on house arrest so I don't go to work is no less endearing than the last.
- JC opening his mouth. I rarely don't like the result, whatever the topic.
- The prospect of my birthday road trip to Mississippi with some of my favorite girls and the ultimate end result of Lance.
- Fic. Just, yeah.
- Conaaan! Have I mentioned? Next time I'm in New York, I'm gonna stand in front of Rockefeller Plaza until I run into him.
Happy Tuesday! And for those of us who shrieked with delight, happy release of the first season of Star Trek on DVD day!

Date: August 31st, 2004 01:49 pm (UTC)2. I don't know who that guy is, but I think he was in the stands with Jesse at Challenge in 2003. Whatev, man.
3. Dingo and Foster and how many dogs does he have these days? Lance, you need to issue press releases! Inquiring minds want to know!
4. Boys on cellphones
talking to other boys whose pictures they might have on the mantel... see above re good things.5. the more times a year I see you, the less enough it is. I couldn't have said it better myself. ONE MONTH!!! And actual time to yap this trip, not just run about in crowds of far too many people! *more and more hugs*

Date: August 31st, 2004 02:16 pm (UTC)2. Okay. He just looked unkempt, where Lance manages to look classy in a T-shirt and jeans (though admittedly not when said shirt is two sizes too big, but my point stands.)
3. Well, one of the puppies could ostensibly be the mystery kid's, but yes, he seems to keep up quite the collection. Three seems to be his comfort zone, which is so sweetly Southern is makes me sigh. And imagine frontier AUs about him going hunting and huddling around campfires with them.
4. !!! When did I miss Jesse's picture on Lance's mantel? Unless that was merely a particularly lovely theory, in which case, I'll take it anyway. Wonder what pictures of them together in Lance's house that blind item was alluding to. You'd think it's the sort of thing that would've made the rounds.
5. ONE MONTH! And then I'll be depressingly 22 but will have y'all and Lance to drown my sorrows with. And yes, with the road tripping and car talk! Having the chance to be together for real this time, as opposed to snatches of conversation on freezing sidewalks outside venues, brief car trips to venues, swapping encounter stories in half-asleep/excited stupor states in hotel rooms in anticipation of/right after returning from a venue - well, let's just say there's a theme. Can't wait at all.

Date: August 31st, 2004 02:30 pm (UTC)2. I'm not lobbying for Mr. Unknown. Just was amused that I glanced at an old CFTC pic and saw him (or am pretty sure I did--even wearing the same sunglasses!).
Lance, meanwhile, could wear burlap and horse manure and make it look good.
3. And imagine frontier AUs about him going hunting and huddling around campfires with them. Oh yes, please imagine those! And then write about them!
4. Jesse's picture on Lance's mantel--well, isn't that what the BI was about, presumably? I mean, I don't think I even need my tin hat for that one, though I'll gladly get it out of my pocket just in case.
5. "Depressingly 22"? Oh, honey. You are just getting started on your good times. Honestly. Here's to continuing our theme but with a little more leisure this time!

Date: August 31st, 2004 05:47 pm (UTC)2. Believe me, I didn't once think for a second that you were lobbying. I'm just being irrational because it wasn't Jesse. Ignore me, really.
3. Oh, Lance. Why are there not more cowboy AUs? Come to think of it, besides
4. Jesse's picture on Lance's mantel--well, isn't that what the BI was about, presumably? So the blind item reporter has been in Lance's house? That's what I was confused about, were there pictures we'd all seen or was this person saying things only he's witnessed.
I mean, I don't think I even need my tin hat for that one, though I'll gladly get it out of my pocket just in case.
*g* You forget your audience. Please feel free to cavort happily, tinhat firmly in place, anytime you're around here. But no, in this case, not even the least bit necessary.
5. It's only depressing because my friend Kelsey gaped at me when I told her how old I was and said, "You know, your next big birthday is going to be 30!" Which is ludicrous, as I have car-renting privileges, the quarter-century anniversary, and that seemingly magic age of 28 to look forward to. It's all in what you make of it anyway. Just numbers, lalala.
Here's to continuing our theme but with a little more leisure this time!
Oh, goodness yes. This whole event will be so nice and relaxed and low-key. We can only hope for an atmosphere like at Animal Avengers, but either way the company will be great and the location Southern, which doesn't allow for rushing or anxiety, because *someone's* mother will make you sit down and drink sweet tea until it's passed.

So the blind item reporter has been in Lance's house?
The person who dished to the BI reporter, presumably. At least, that's how I read "the photos of the two around his Hollywood home."

Mmmmmmmm. I'm still beaming.

Spare! Me!
Yes, I can vaguely recall the QC being a bit of a mindfuck at the time, but please believe me when I tell you that things are just starting to get good.

I love the way you think. Among other things! :-D
