Spent a lot of money today. "" Granted, most of it on necessary textbooks (andmaybetheStarTrekDVDs) for which I've got a scholarship grant coming, but it's never any less painful. However, I've also come to terms with my sad dependence on US Weekly (and for freee! Well, for six months anyway), scored a 256MB memory card for $18, and resisted the wicked temptation of William Shatner and Leonard Nemoy talking about the series in the home of the latter, so overall, a job well done.

Staci and Miranda are planning to go hurricane supply shopping tonight. Now, we all have windows in our rooms and a bay window in the living room which the university has no plans to board up, so Friday night will be spent in our hallway playing Scrabble by flashlight, probably drinking, and possibly bonding over near-death experience confessions. You only wish you had that much fun to look forward to.

Seriously though, this thing is huge, and gaining, and whatever trajectory it takes, it's coming straight for us. Gainesville is not a town accustomed to storms, neither built nor terribly prepared for them. Also, it'll be all our first hurricane without our moms. Hopefully that area of high pressure over the Bahamas works out, but the local news isn't telling us to hold our breath.

Sarah brought the office still-warm Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and my god that's dangerously good crack. Lance and JC know where it's at, yo.

Quote of the Day:

"And on a somewhat cheesy note, I don't realize how much I want *NSYNC to get back together, or how much I actually MISS them together until I hear them sing a capella."

Ooh, did you really buy the S1 set? I really, really wanted to...but at the end of the day, I just can't bring myself to spend anywhere near $100 on a boxset that doesn't have a single commentary on it. Four hours of featurettes? Gosh, you spoil me.

I didn't even think about the extras - it was all about having the episodes in order and on the permanent record. Also, the market price is $125 - I paid $85, minus a $5 Web site coupon plus free shipping. There was really no arguing with that.

You outfan me, madam, and I salute you.

I have my favorite eps on tape still, so I'm holding out for some decent "buy multiple seasons and save!" deals when all three seasons are available. Of course, it could end up being a Farscape situation all over again where that so doesn't happen, because they know I'll crack eventually ;)

*hugs* Batten down the hatches, hon! We've got a track right in the way of that hurricane, too, and a lot of storm-savvy employees who are mighty worried about this one. Stay safe.

Thanks, love. The roomies and I are all set for supplies and sundry - the rest is entirely out of our hands. Here's hopin'.

Thanks, and same to you. It's got everyone in a tizzy, even the jaded storm veterans (i.e. me). This thing is coming, hard and fast, a different storm than Andrew but the news rhetoric bodes like scenarios. We've done all we can here, so hope for the best is all that's left. Hopefully, that will be enough.

Aah, and I've got maybe a few hours of random episodes on tape, and there are a few I'd love to share with the WORLD from my marathon afternoons over the summer so it was pretty much a no-brainer as to waiting vs. n.o.w. Smart idea about waiting for such deals though. We have to save money you know. Because, yes. ;)

So I can continue to feed my LJ habit? :-D

Btw, best of luck with the storm tonight. I hadn't realized it was so huge. ::Sends good vibes::

Thanks - yeah, the thing is a monster, and even the most jaded and battening down the hatches. We're ready - the rest is luck and hope.
