Firstly: [livejournal.com profile] saturn92103! Hit me up on AIM sometime - Moonbrat42 - I've remembered what so desperately needed to be shared with you the other night.

Spent the weekend in a photo essay black hole and perfecting my mah jongg technique. [livejournal.com profile] walkingshadow and I watched and whimpered through The Enemy Within - my captain! Imminent Apocalypse From the Tropics: Take Eleven is en route to us, even as Ivan still hasn't made up his mind about when, if at all, he's gonna drag his slacker self through our fair state. Seriously, as much as I love a good extended weekend, this can't continue.

Bought six shirts, caramel khaki pants, and new jeans at Old Navy for a whopping $105 and change. Got the check for the balance of my scholarship. Bought new jersey sheets, the happiest striped comforter ever, and a digital voice recorder at Target between playing Marco Polo across aisles with [livejournal.com profile] walkingshadow and Staci. Found out how many buckets of money I saved by buying my textbooks online. Got my paycheck early. Treated myself to Farah's. Somewhere in there, I hope things evened out.

Speaking of textbooks, ran into the Ex-Boy who now works at GTI and has taken not a single one of my nearly five months of unreturned phone calls/IMs/text messages/e-mails as a hint that I might not be interested. In anything involving him. But no, he has to say 'hey' and 'can I help you' and before you know it, I'm babbling and rationalizing my behavior as work stress and post-trip depression and not telling him that I find him to be boring and insipid, which are just not good enough reasons to be mean enough to convey Stay Away to a person so obviously dense it's surprising the township hasn't yet collapsed upon him.

Earned my keep at work tonight, which is always satisfying. We still have no desk chief. This continues to irk the parts of me just itching to make the paper as good as I've known it to be. Because I wrote a headline who knows how many months ago I came across on an errant search tonight, and I didn't recognize it as mine at first, but damn did it make me want to read the article. Students begin roommate roulette with aces up their sleeves. It was about a new computer program being implemented at apartment complexes around town to create more compatible roommate matches. Not terribly interesting, yet here I am reading on because the headline got its claws in me. You know, anyone who says copy editors don't matter (*cough*myfather*cough*), that the writers are everything, has never seen an unedited story, has never passed by a genuis piece because of a dull-as-toast heading or lead, has never appreciated an impeccably punctuated, clear, grammatically correct, palatable prose for what it is - the product of a successful relationship.

In fannish news, Lance played cards and got photographed for his trouble thereby making us all winners, JC is a big fashion whore who's about to commit himself to a term hopefully less than nine months from announcement to actuality with another one in the oven, Justin is at a creative crossroads and just wants his momma and his advance copy of Tiger Woods' newest golf game starring himself, the appalling lack of pictures from Joey's wedding continues to be a sore topic, which brings us to Lance having allegedly met Jesse at a club function sponsored by his frat in Orlando, which, whatever its veracity, is a fantastic story.

As depressing as this was to read, it's not something I'm not familiar with as of late. You can't play Boys II Men or Sarah McLachlan in the same room lest you wish me to go crawling into the nearest corner to cry.

On which note, you also shouldn't let me read transcripts of Spock's death scene and Kirk's eulogy back-to-back. Like Seasons of Love - *instant* tears, man.

After fielding some spam from a purported Leo McCoy, I'm off to edit more pictures. Because, love.

The posts seem to have disappeared, but the source was the JJB2, a hellspawn that's supposedly been around for a while but is only now gaining popularity because of some kerfuffle or another on the main board. But, frat party! They met at a club frat party in Orlando. The rest of the alleged account would have me believe Lance was Jesse's first, which is neither here nor there in believability.

Replied to her below. We know he went to UCF, the rest isn't much of a stretch. I forgot the source but someone on my flist remined that it was tracyluvsya, whose sister allegedly has pictures of him because they dormed together there.

Two and a half weeks!

That's it, that they met because Jesse's frat sponsored/hosted/somesuch at a club in Orlando and that's where they met and Lance was his first. We're being dodgy with details and pictures at the moment, but I'll (of course) let you know if and when that changes.

Oh, you and me both. I've got unfinished fic from last Halloween that's been dusted off and worked on for the past couple of weeks that's just been laid waste to. But then, let's keep what we're doing in mind. Canon doesn't have to cooperate! I, for one, will never stop carrying my JoLa torch, gorgeous and nigh-unbearably romantic wedding pictures aside. But where, oh where, are the rest of our boys in tuxes, eh New York Post? *pouts*

Well, of course fiction is, y'know, fictional, and that's fine, but it's kind of annoying when you work hard to, say, fit things to a timeline that doesn't contradict publicly known facts, and then new information emerges that changes things. Blah blah blah whatevercakes, only 8 people on the planet will ever read this anyway, so why am I so worried about it?

And remember: He collects Superman memorabilia!

Bet you said the same about Just Push Play, and well, that didn't so much turn out to be true. *g* Though, to be fair, Lance/Jesse will be a harder sell to a smaller audience. Count me in as one of the initial eight and best to you with it.

Superman memorabilia! Oh, A, you don't even know how hard that story makes me smile every.single.time. The love is not to be denied. I do appreciate your indulging me on the point of them.

Not just Lance/Jesse, but polyamory, a Backstreet Boy, and a side of Basez, just to hit every possible pairing squick. (Okay, except JuC. I think we're safe on that one.) *laughs*

Seriously, I thought people (well, people who like Basez) would like JPP. This one... eh. We're writing it for ourselves. If a few other people enjoy it, too, then that's great. If not, we've still had a blast.

And believe me, I have no objections to the JoLa love. None whatsoever. *hugs*

Saturday at Antigua wasn't Jessie's first choice for a social but then, there was a reason why he was only co-chair of the organization committee. At least the drinks were pretty much the best in town. Finishing the one in his hand, Jessie stepped out of the loose circle of the tri-Delt vice president, who was already slurring the ends of her words and leaning on the Phi Gamma treasurer, who couldn't be more accomodating about it. He wouldn't be missed.

He'd seen them at a booth earlier, two guys he didn't recognize from any classes or functions though the blond was giving his memory a vague itch. Renting the club meant only members of the houses invited to the social could get in, which meant they must be friends of the owner or VIPs. Alumni maybe, Jessie thought, looking at the taller one who'd just been approached by an Alpha Epsilon not looking like she wanted to leave alone tonight. He smiled broader the farther she leaned over and got up when she took his hand. The other raised his glass in salute but stopped short of bringing it to his mouth when he realized it was empty.

They reached the bar at the same time. If he was alumni, Jessie figured just because this was a date social shouldn't keep him from doing a little networking. "Hey. Buy you a drink?"

The guy had caught his eye before, but the once-over he gave Jessie felt more suspicious than interested. Jesse shrugged and leaned onto the bar.

"Jack and Coke, thanks," he said, turning back to face the guy, who hadn't stopped looking. Maybe not so uptight after all. But before he got a chance to say anything else, he felt an arm come around his neck and a waxy smack of lip balm on his cheek.

"Jessie!" She may only be a second-semester freshman, but everyone knew it never took Reta long to start having fun. Jessie slipped an arm around her waist to steady her and take some of the pressure off his neck. He really didn't want to end up babysitting her again in the space of a week. "This place is great," she shouted against his ear.

"Always a pleasure, Reta."

She regained her footing and rolled her head on Jesse's shoulder to turn her mascara-heavy gaze toward the guy. "Aren't you gonna introduce me to your--" she began before suddenly stiffening against Jessie's side. "Holy fuck, you're--"

"Lance," the guy answered, extending his hand to her but flicking his gaze at Jessie.

She blinked at him owlishly for a second. "My roommate is going to flip her shit when she-- You know what, would you," she said, silver-pink flip phone already open in her hand.

"Sure," Lance said as she slid across to drape her arm around his shoulders to his, handing her phone to her former perch. Jessie obligingly took the picture, and after bussing Lance on the cheek as well and something about saying hi to a Justin for her, Reta left in the direction of the bathrooms, phone still open but dialing this time. Jessie watched her go - he wasn't an eavesdropper but wanted to know whatever she knew so he could stop sucking at his position as social co-director by not knowing someone important enough to be recognized by a tipsy new recruit in a dimly-lit club.

Lance scrubbed a hand across his face and looked toward the dance floor, probably searching for his friend. He'd been genial but coolly polite to Reta, like someone avoiding a topic of conversation, but Jessie was still at a loss. Not bad-looking either, but not enough to be that put out by attractive girls hitting on him.

Oh.

"I don't usually come here Saturday nights either," Jessie ventured.

Lance stopped his survey of the floor to look back at Jessie. It was too dark and packed to tell any one person apart from the moving mass anyway. "No?"

Jessie shrugged and hoped he wasn't about to make an ass of himself. "Not my kind of music." Lance straightened up from his lean against the bar, and Jessie took in the pull of his shirt across his chest, the flare of his jeans over snakeskin boots and dared himself to finish. "Or crowd. Wednesday nights at the Roxy though."

After a beat Lance said, "Jack and Coke for me too," to the bartender. This time when he turned back, Jessie definitely recognized the play at the corner of Lance's mouth and smiled back.

Or you know, something.
