So I manage to get to bed at the marginally decent hour of 2:30 this morning. That lasted about three hours and now, an hour, a bit of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, some crackers, and a mug of tea later, I am no closer to being able to get back to sleep. The whole situation is just ridiculous by now - random napping, can't fall sleep, waking up in the middle of the night. You'd think I was harboring some incapacitating anxiety, but I'm eating fine and feel otherwise fine. Maybe I'll force myself not to nap this afternoon, go have a good, bone-deep workout with [livejournal.com profile] walkingshadow and Staci, and get to bed right after Conan's monologue.

Ranted briefly to [livejournal.com profile] walkingshadow about Harry/Lupin fic and how I'm so tired of there being a third person in the room. They can't want each other on their own merits? And why does Lupin get to escape having James issues with him? Also, the next person who uses Harry-has-a-nightmare as a plot device will have to answer to me.

[livejournal.com profile] without_me and [livejournal.com profile] giddyupnow have begun the hard sell portion of their campaign to get me to the West Coast come graduation. And you know, to be completely honest, if it weren't for New York, I wouldn't think twice. Plus, certain boys take their puppies out to canyons there, not to mention the general perks of living in one of the entertainment capitals of the world.

Communication on the Internet prof talked about our Web site projects, which should amount to at least 15-20 pages by the time they're due in full. Now, I've made sites before, but never with quite that much content - then Staci pointed out that this would be the perfect opportunity to get my ass in gear about getting the travel journal up. There could be galleries, recipe sidebars from our dinner parties, tourist site overviews, city insights, club reviews, restaurant tips and a thousand other things in addition to the novel-length journal itself (no, really - 1/3 done and it's already at 25K words).

In related news, Cascading Style Sheets, if not by virtue of their name alone, then by the monumental amounts of "Pretteh!" they make me want to shout, are the new crack.

Not to be confused with the new Best Thing Ever, which would be Prisoner of Azkaban in fifteen minutes.

Still no boys in tuxes? *le sigh*

Oh, tsk - Harry *has* nightmares. That's what he *does*. That's how he *gets* them in the room. Silly girl.

I would add to the clamor for your relocation. Think twice, think three times. It's worth several thoughts. :)

I think the sharp-dressed men are going to elude us this time around. I hope I'm wrong, though.

Aaaw, thanks love. It's really flattering of all of you, and knowing that I'd have people I already know and adore out there is a huge selling point.

*g* I know, I know. He's got no other way of luring them in, after all. Or, you know, let's pretend he's no longer thirteen when these stories happen and he's refined his seduction technique accordingly.

Thanks for casting your lot, too. It honestly means a lot to know you'd all welcome me out there, should I take that step.

US Weekly snapped one of Lance! But alas, the rest it seems have become camera-shy in their old age. *tsk*

What's the lure of New York, if I may?

Everything. I knew I loved it from the moment I stepped off the plane. I love the energy of the city, the architecture, the nonchalance and driveness of its people, the subway system, the restaurants, the shops, the grid structure, the entertainment - all of it. And all I've seen is lower Manhattan! They have great newspapers and opportunities for internships and jobs in all kinds of media-related companies, but like I said, I just love New York, and to me, loving where I'm at is almost more important than loving what I'm doing.

My dad grew up in NYC, and I know he was hard-pressed to leave it. :) And you're right, the media opportunities are huge! Sounds like a good option...
