So much it hurts. If the fact that his new album is a collaboration with Ben Folds alone doesn't sell you, there's a ton of other artists involved, one of which resulted in one of my newest favorite songs ever that I'll now share with the class. My Mississippi girls, Brad Paisley not only guests on the track but wrote it specifically for Shatner.

William Shatner feat. Brad Paisley - Real

But the entire album is fantastic. You can listen to excerpts here, and if you're so inclined, as I was within a track and a half, follow a link to buy it at the same place.

Lyrics

I have saved the world in the movies
So naturally, there's some folks who think I must know what to do
But just because you've seen me on your TV
Doesn't mean I'm any more enlightened than you

And while there's a part of me
In that guy you've seen
Up there on that screen
I am so much more
And I wish I knew
The things you think I do
I would change this world for sure
But I eat and sleep and breathe and bleed and feel
Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm real

I'd love to help the world and all its problems
But I'm an entertainer, and that's all
So the next time there's an asteroid or a natural disaster
I'm flattered that you thought of me
But I'm not the one to call

And while there's a part of me
In that guy you've seen
Up there on that screen
I am so much more
And I wish I knew
The things you think I do
I would change this world for sure
But I eat and sleep and breathe and bleed and feel
Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm real

(Spoken by Shatner)
And while there's a part of me
In that guy you've seen
Up there on that screen
I am so much more

(Spoken by Shatner and Sung by Paisley)
And I wish I knew
The things you think I do
I would change this world for sure
But I eat and sleep and breathe and bleed and feel

(Spoken by Shatner)
Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm real

Also, who's coming with me to Las Vegas in August next year? Hm?

Oh, and I promised this:

Happy Sunday, everyone. May your boys be as in love and creatively oddball as mine.

Quote of the Day:

"Live life like you're gonna die - because you are."
-William Shatner, You'll Have Time

Oh, I love you.

I've downloaded (though my computer says the format is a quicktime movie). Those lyrics are priceless.

It's in Quicktime format, yes. It's a sample track I downloaded somewhere along the way. I bought it as a CD, old-fashioned girl that I am.

We're gonna geek out so hardcore on Star Trek when we meet up down here. We'll trade off favorite episodes and walk away feeling such ridiculous amounts of love, we'll barely keep from exploding. Deal?

Ah, Creation, the Evil Empire of Cons. A word of advice? Save up if you want to see anything really good.

Is this the album with the Common People cover on it? Because that cover rocks my world. I'm glad to hear the rest of the album's good, now I won't feel like a tool forking over cash for it ^_^

I figured they were the ClearChannel of cons, but dude, Shatner and Nimoy in the same room? *forks over firstborn* Thanks for the advice, and unless I came into some highly lucrative employment before then, I'm thinking not so much with the ambitious Las Vegas spending. Alas. *pout*

Yes it is! It's fabulously fun, definitely worth the investment if you're at all a fan of the man, pop culture, or just good music.

Oh, I've listened to all the tracks, and my god, the love. The love! It is not to be quantified. Has Been is another favorite, and I Can't Get Behind That. Who knew the man had it in him? *glee*
