all my people right here, right now
Dec. 27th, 2004 06:30 amChristmas was spent in the usual place (aunt's house) doing the usual things (drinking white wine) but with a decidedly new character - Melissa Kaplan. Of all the people in all the world, it had to be one of the very few I actually hate. It's not an emotion I do easily - it takes effort, and I don't hold grudges - but she's on that short list. Apparently, a friend of hers (who claims to have had a class with me in high school) knows my cousin and they were just stopping by for the always grade-A seafood and some conversation. Yeah, party-hopping on Christmas Eve, if that tells you anything. However, she did share her cigarettes outside and we had surprisingly civil, extensive conversation. I blame the alcohol and the utter dearth of anyone else at the party with whom I'd wish to carry on any sort of dialogue. She's still her overmedicated yet overtly in desperate need of more, compulsively lying self, but really, whatever. I had some more wine, scored $50 and some stationery, and we were home by one in the morning.
Christmas Day was spent in the throes of frustration as the new state-of-the-art photo printer decidedly did not perform up to snuff, so half my gift ideas were spoiled. *sigh* I'll drop by CVS at some point, because that was an awful lot of investing I did in picture frames this season to have nothing to show for it. That night's dinner with my father was surprisingly painless, and he managed to keep expressing not his pleasure at my Metro Editorship, not his kudos that I'm now in charge of a staff of six-to-be-eight, not his well-wishes on the task at hand, but his disappointment that I'm still wasting my life by not writing to the very end.
As for today, I worked on a single logic puzzle for about two hours through three different grids before I solved it, and on a fluke of good luck at that, so not so much yay team me. I also watched "a lot" of Law & Order (Jack McCoy is so my boyfriend) started making a dent in the disaster that is my room, and made suitable clothing out of four T-shirts.
without_me, you oughta see what a pair of scissors, some haphazard measuring and a little fancy knotwork made of that oversized potato sack of a CFTC shirt. Perhaps a picture later. For now, I should've been in bed four hours ago, as there'll be dentisting, at least one meal-ing, and a whole lotta to-do listing tomorrow.
