in the latest chapter of how SGA continues to permeate every facet of my life

My new weekend, Tuesday and Wednesday, are winding down, and I am all of one more episode out from rewatching Season One. Before I Sleep really is a fantastic episode. Elizabeth would so do that, and if one is willing to grant her no other virtue than this episode, she does not fail at life as the leader of Atlantis.

Also managed Aurora, which is totally the culmination of all the John/Rodney lovefesting that had been denied us for the first part of Season Two. Not that it was entirely absent, but it was of a considerably lighter quantity than Season One. But all is fogiven! So, so forgiven, because man, this was my second episode ever and am only seeing it for the second time (plus the ability to appreciate it beyond OMGILOVERODNEY) today, but seriously, John and Rodney, man. Love! Also, Teyla and Ronon. This was the episode of 'ships. Err, so to speak.

Granted, this wasn't dedicated viewing, as I was unpacking for most of it, but whatwith this newfound vidding madness [livejournal.com profile] walkingshadow and I have stumbled into (and as she said ruined us for music FOREVER), knowing the material is essential. Problem being is that while storyboarding these things (there are several projects underway, including Offspring's Come Out and Play that nearly made me drive off the road in hysterics Monday and Beck's Guess I'm Doing Fine, inspired by a spate of HP deathfics yesterday afternoon and striking in the middle of the canned soup aisle of Publix when it came on the Shuffle, an AU of The Siege in which John dies and how the team [and Atlantis] tries to cope without him, especially with that latter involving a lot of effects [as flashbacks often do,]) is fun, I've neither the time nor the software necessary to do much more. WOE.

Relatedly, Ron and Hermione can't die in Book Seven. I totally get Harry dying, but not those two. Not that I believe they will, but JKR should consider this a pre-emptive strike against any plans she may have to the contrary.

Miranda and I discussed the backwards logic of the fact that I historically am attracted to tall, smart, sarcastic, dark-haired, skinny, overconfident men, yet Rodney. Granted, while Rodney doesn't run strictly contrary to those criteria, John exemplifies them much more distinctly. So while I stand by my initial assessment that he is in fact a "pillar of hotness," it's a purely surface interest, like a technically perfect painting. And while I do like skinny, I wouldn't change a single thing about Rodney. Although, as it's been said, he's buffing up before our very eyes, and I won't say it's not nice. His ARMS.

Ahem, back to John. I'm just so nonchalant on him except when Rodney is in the same room. Maybe if we knew more about him. He does rise in estimation with every episode, just a little bit, mostly when he's doing something other than smirking and shooting things. I think it's the fact that we know next to nothing about him that gets me. As Miranda noted, I've never liked John. I don't dislike him, but he's just never been more than a well-fitting piece of Atlantis. Our Savior, John Sheppard, hallowed be thy name. He doesn't intrigue so much as irritate me in his evasiveness. Except when he's with Rodney, and then he smiles and jokes and plays - they're both more together than apart, but unlike many others, I find Rodney's mere existence generally adorable and hot, as opposed to just in certain few moments that make me tilt my head and go hmm, like with John.

It's probably just that I really, REALLY love Rodney. Although, John does have beautiful hands. When he grabs a railing, my heart skips a little.

Huh. Unpacking is complete, and I am somehow out my coffee pot (but not maker), a toaster, and some DVD boxes. Weird. Also, SAD, because coffee! [whimper]

P.S. Dear Florida, It is the MIDDLE OF JANUARY, why can't I open the patio door to cool my apartment instead of turning on the A/C? No love and sweating, -Jules
