When [livejournal.com profile] walkingshadow and I first spoke about the oddness of Sheppard, I was surprised to hear that my lay observations, based on all of five episodes, weren't out of left field. Further spurring thoughts is that I'm in the midst of reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, which involves a bounty hunters going after humanoid androids that are undetectable except through a lie detector-type test based solely on their physical and verbal responses to emotional cues. Not that that's what I think is going on, but it might account for what I could've sworn was hypersensitivity.

In any event, there is plenty to love, but oh, the rest is so bad. Ronan's great, and Atlantis is nifty, and the wraith are freaksome, but the show for me is all about the next time Rodney opens his mouth or Sheppard tries to hold a conversation. I love how fans make their own fun.

As to McEnroe, I think he's cute. There's nothing flattering about that ensemble if you don't know his '82 record, and even then it's tongue-in-cheek. Celebrities who embrace their less-than-flattering phases endear me disproportionately. :)
