- My grandmother died over the weekend (long illness, better for her and everyone kind of situation), but she taught me to appreciate jigsaw puzzles and let me eat raw pasta dough when she made dinner.
- Car is back in the shop, with a long-distance diagnosis of anywhere between $300 to $3,000 - if it's the latter, I'm making good on my promise of moving to a city with a proper public transit system.
- Had passive-aggressive non-argument with valuable source over idiotic issue. Bosses are harping on me about a story I couldn't possibly have had time to do yet with my schedule.
- Am teetering on the brink of that most unenviable time in a woman's month.
- UPS doesn't ship overnight to West Palm Beach (wtf?!) so my mother's birthday gift won't arrive on time.
- Summer has descended on Florida, choking the very will to live from our every pore. And with it came the lovebugs, useless creatures who are named because the only time they surface is to mate, then become smears on our windshields.
GOOD
- It is Friday.
- The car broke down well before the other end of the 16-mile drive across town to the jail book-in office.
- Got The Lost Room on DVD.
- Boyfriend has car.
- Have impulse-bought fun shirts.
- Played and won Scrabble against entertaining Vegas municipal water engineer.
- Have Corona Light.
Yeah, the math doesn't quite work out, but not having to go to work is like winning the lottery in and of itself.
