My Smallville Jetplane Sojourn

what's the operative phrase, kids? i do not make this stuff up.

-our Southwest Airlines flight left from purple Terminal Three at Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood international airport

-they swabbed my computer and bag for explosives residue, which i found just a mite cute.

-Editor's Note: every architect should see their work from the sky to fully appreciate it

-there really isn't nothing in Florida. anywhere. i sat by the window the entire flight and there wasn't a singular stretch of undeveloped acreage to be seen.

-our rental car ended up being a deep royal purple/maroon Dodge Neon

-coinidence that the street out of the airport is called Duval, same as Key West's main street? you decide.

-the address of our hotel: 6969

-Applebee's playlist:
Goo Goo Dolls - Name
Sting & The Police - Wrapped Around Your Finger
Sheryl Crow - Difficult Kind

-our drinks: Iced Tea, the official drink of luuurve

-spotting a vending machine brimming with colorful Super!Bounce balls outside the restaurant i couldn't help myself and regressed about ten years until my right hand was (if a smidge uneasily) wrapped tight around the bright blue one it gave me

-a new passion is reawakened when The Cure's Lovesong played at the end of QAF. the lyrics will make you wanna die too.

-some out of context fun:
"Thanks for reminding us that heroes don't just wear latex."
-Anne Curry on NBC's Today
'My hero in shining blue denim' is one of my favorite lines from Watershed

-speaking of which, a History Channel (it's what was on in the INS waiting room) expert used the word 'watershed' in his discourse on Hitler and the Sealion project

-mum and I decided to drive around the downship and ran across a quaint little residential neighborhood with an even quainter little inviting sidestreet called Clark Rd.

-all this Christ imagery and while Lex surely received the best non-denominational private education money could offer, if it would send him running to Clark's altar then maybe Lionel should've considered Victory Christian Academy. all the ruthless, world-conquering brainwash with none of the hellfire bedlam in the end

-we chuckled but passed on what i'm certain would've been a delightful stay at the Admiral Rainbow Inn

-Don Shula popped up in an air conditioner advertisement to remind me that "The winners are on the Rheem team."

-and my Word of the Day for June 4th was:
Main Entry: Cock·aigne
Pronunciation: kä-'kAn
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English cokaygne, from Middle French (pais de) cocaigne: land of plenty
Date: 13th century
: an imaginary land of great luxury and ease

and sometimes, there's just nothing more to say. this is a time to bask.
