Everyone and their mother has brought up the SDB Secret Santa Challenge. And I would! If I were one of those people magically and tragically inspired by simple request. I love my friends! I do! But I just don't work that way. I'm... strangely wired.
But these are real authors. And there's a contract to be signed. And hey, fic written just for you! I mean, it looks to be, by my calculations, at least forty possible different kinds of fun. Thing is, you're assigned the flavor, and what if it's an author you've all but built a shrine in your already micromini of a living space?
One word, kids: commitment. With my luck lately, I could end up with Joey/Lance on a ranch or Kevin/Chris in the Yukon.
But you know what? I'd make the effort. I'd read the authors that capture them, I'd research the history,... It's a Christmas gift, and how damn cool is that? Getting the chance to possibly make the day of someone you don't even know?
Fuck it. I've jumped into ocean water when the outside temps were below freezing, jumped off shipping piers, and swum with sharks. Giving a gift to a fellow fan?
