After scoring a J-14 at Borders, I stopped off at Publix and walked out with half a gallon of milk (pre-emptive strike, I always run out between shopping trips) and a box of the Kraft stuff (the "cheesiest"). Haven't had it in forever but a dash of cilantro and garlic pepper and mmm, goodness.
TV Meme
1. What was the first television show that really stole your heart?
Where I loved the whole show, not just a character? Aside from loving Rainbow Brite an unhealthy amount, I do remember watching this show called Paw-Paw Bears in Europe, which I've since seen on Cartoon Network here. Remember having strong affection for all of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but as far as a show, I liked Gummy Bears.
2. What show do you think is highly overrated?
NYPD Blue. Never got into the writing and certainly not the characters.
3. What do you think of Reality TV?
I actually liked the four episodes of Survivor I've caught over the seasons, the seven of The Real World in the same, and the five of those 'people invade your house' shows (Trading Spaces, VH1's Rock the House and While You Were Out). But I'm just home so randomly and really have no one to get into them with, so.
4. Your favourite TV series? (Ever)
For all its foibles and despite the lost seasons seven and eight, The X-Files all the way.
5. What cancelled show would you bring back?
Cupid baby, no contest. That show rocked and Jeremy Piven is so the god.
6. Most annoying character on TV?
Abe on Clone High. I wrote a report on the Lincoln guy he's based on in the fifth grade, but this is just a simpering, whiny, third-rate incarnation of the man.
7. Favourite news channel?
CNBC.
8. 10 Favourite Episodes of any TV series?
In the Shadow of Two Gunmen - The West Wing
Absolutely riveted for the entire two hours. I started out sitting on the sofa and ended up on the floor, about three feet from the TV, hugging my knees to my chest and reduced to whimpering from the amazingness of it.
A Crystal Clear Destiny - Sailor Moon
Serena and Darien are trapped by one of Queen Beryl's minions and they have to reveal their identities to each other to survive. And then Tuxedo Mask sacrificing himself for the Moon Princess and I just melted. So.Beautiful.
Memento Mori, Bad Blood and Triangle - The X-Files
MM: This is the one where they find out Scully has cancer as a result of her abduction. It had me crying within the first two minutes and it only got worse through the episode. But, the love! The friendship! The hope! Those crazy kids were meant to be forever.
BB: Mulder and Scully at their bantering best. Luke Wilson as the Southern vampire sheriff. The whole thing was delightful and who loves a drama that pokes fun at itself so delightfully.
T: Oh yeah, watch those kids do their thing in long-take camerawork and a jazzed score. The doppelganger kiss! Mulder admits his love! Incredible work all around.
Full Circle - Queer As Folk
Brian dances with the luckiest scarf in all the world. Brian dances with Justin at his prom. And then not so much with the dancing, but oh, while that lasts. Good lord.
I Only Have Eyes For You and Once More With Feeling - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The former: I love the entire episode. The tragedy as it's re-enacted over and over, the way they converge in Buffy and Angel in the end.
The latter: I love musicals. I love Buffy/Spike. I was on cloud fucking eleven for the whole thing.
The One With the Prom Video - Friends
This was the first episode of the show I ever saw. I had no background, I was charmed into the entire rest of the series by it. Such a beautiful moment at the end.
Who Do You Trust? - 7th Heaven
Pick your jaws up off the floor, it's Lance's episode. Nothing for the Emmy voters to get riled up about, but my lordy his voice. Seventeen! Such a cutie.
9. Favourite Talk Shows?
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. I also loved Dennis Miller Live back in the day, and Late Night with Conan O'Brien is a guilty pleasure. He takes his desk out, yo. That's rock-on fabulous.
10. Favourite Network?
Wish I had real cable, as it would probably be some Road Rules-free incarnation MTV. As it stands, Comedy Central.
And now for some words of wisdom from Neil Gaiman:
"Relax. Fake it. Mean it. And you don't need to figure it all out before you start writing. You can figure it out while you're writing."
