Well, grrrrrr indeed. Though, you know, French writers are the worst when it comes to Lance. Given that Lance and Justin are the only ones we've ever heard about here : Justin because he dated Britney, and maybe a little because of his album, though not so much; and Lance because hahaha, he's a joke. Didn't you know? All they ever say about him is that he's a silly American rich boy who thought he could go into space. And that's it. They know absolutely nothing else, so you should see how he's described, usually.

And yes, the twelve year old fangirl in me just got the upper hand. Squeee.

Lance has been given *such* the unfair shake in the media here, too. Not the direct sort of outright anymosity that you seem to have in France (though, depending on the source...) but overall it's been: look at the pretentious pop star, selfish, ridiculous little boy with the dream. How many of us *haven't* dreamed of going into space/being an astronaut? And this boy is willing to work his ass off, securing sponsorship, passing the physicals, learning a new language, taking the mechanical engineering and operative courses in a frozen hell of a country so he could do it. He's worked hard, and just because most journalists are bitter, jaded assholes (I can so easily see how you can become that in the business) this boy is honestly doing it with the best intentions in the end - to educate kids, raise awareness and interest in the space program, and he's in just the position to do so.

Honey, this is a Lance-friendly journal, to make an understatement. Any happy thought about the boy are encouraged, and if you lived within reasonable shipping distance, I'd even offer cookies for it.
