One of my favorites. He's blushing about whatever the handsome, broad-shouldered football gentleman is whispering to him! I don't have any clear much less well-articulated opinions about the speculation as to RPS!Lance's top/bottom preferences, but the idea of him bottoming for these sort of well-built guys and still being the one in complete control of the action I like a lot. "" a lot. I like Lance wanting things, and not just getting them but having them his way.

Wait For It by Tiffany Rawlins

"My mom sent these teething things, you bite down and it gets cold, or, I don't know, hot. One of 'em. They're in the car, remind me to bring them in later."

Later. After. After dinner and making out and deciding to stop making out and it turns out Joey can be taught, he's just as likely to be seduced by repetition as he is to become a slave to routine. Joey steps up into the kitchen and it's really only two or three good long paces until he can spin Lance away from the stove and press him up against the butcher block island and kiss him.

Lance smiles and frowns and then smiles into the kiss again, rubbing a hand along Joey's forearm. "Joey, it's. Dinner. We're making dinner."

Joey bites into Lance's neck, pulls his waist closer so their hips bump, runs one hand down Lance's back and then holds him even tighter with fingers caught in his beltloops. Lance makes a noise like a choked sigh and Joey says, "I set the timer."

Lance laughs at that, low and hungry, and slides one hand into Joey's back pocket. "I don't really give a good goddamn about the steak."

Warned you she'd be back. There really aren't quite-right words for how much I adore this story. Lance compartmentalizing first his own emotions, then their interactions, all because Joey can't make up his mind about his sexuality, about personal boundaries, about being with Lance. It just isn't easy with them and maybe it says something about me that I like that beyond the fact that, well, it's a fact. Relationships are never easy, especially when they're your friend first. Also, as a general note, people don't take kindly to being slept with as a favor, so try not to lie to anyone about that. Go read Tiff, she does it all so much better than my stammering.

From mtv.com: What do hotel heiress Paris Hilton and Lance Bass have in common? Well, besides being blonde and getting invited to socialite-stuffed shindigs, the 'NSYNC vocalist and the younger half of the model/actress Hilton sisters are teaming up for the latest Hollywood take on an F. Scott Fitzgerald classic.

"[It's] a remake along the lines of 'The Great Gatsby,' but younger," Bass explained at Wednesday's "Matrix Reloaded" premiere in Los Angeles. Bass will star in the currently-in-development flick, one of many he has on his plate.

Heh. The discussion that followed.

I love the Power Bottom vibe too! To me it is one of the most exciting ways he can be written. I just LOVE it. :-) Unfortunately I have not been very successful at ever actually writing him that way. But I aspire to it! I do! In the meantime, I treasure those stories where I find him like that.

When I say not well-aticulated, I mean it. The idea is just too hot, my brain kinda fizzles and shuts down.

The Power Bottom idea doesn't lend itself to Bassez really, or maybe the way you write it. *g* Which is a good thing! I'm so disturbed when JC's the bossy/mean/sarcastic one because he's got that sweet earnestness streak that just doesn't jibe with that sort of characterization. But I do love your stuff and being pleasantly surprised besides, so please, aspire away!

I see the Power Bottom thing somehow as a response to a sort of vibe, maybe superiority or underestimation that Lance is responding to, maybe just where the other guy is for whatever reason (ego or sheer physical size) is used to being "in charge." Of course it doesn't have to be that way, and the scenario in my head that involves the gentleman above is just really hot, nothing psychologically messy like I just mentioned. It's such a hot thing about Lance though, like the Nick Carter fic I recced a few days ago also by Tiff. How he can make bigger men forget that he's fragile in any way because that's why he chose them in the first place. He wants them to do it his way, which is just hot beyond hot because they're surprised and enthused all in the same and mmm.

Uh, that may have been my brain. All for now. *g*

It's not for want of trying. We have a Power Bottom story, started last summer, that never got off the ground. We have ideas! We do! But somehow it doesn't seem to want to work. Sigh.

I'm so disturbed when JC's the bossy/mean/sarcastic one because he's got that sweet earnestness streak that just doesn't jibe with that sort of characterization.

I don't see the PB's partner as being bossy/mean/sarcastic, really. Not necessarily. It's just that Lance wants it his way and wants it now. And I don't think he realizes that JC is up to giving it to him the way he wants it. At least in our world.

Not making sense, here. But I think you and I mostly see eye to eye on this PB stuff. If you ever feel like you want to help us figure out what is wrong with this draft, let me know. ;-)

I attempted to clarify the Power Bottom thing in the next paragraph, but what I think I meant with the JC thing is that when some authors want to for one of their characters to be a Power Bottom and can't justify (that word is so, so tainted now, can't say it without snickering) it on the strengths of that character alone, they change the personality of their partner somehow to evoke that response. The fact that JC and Lance tend (fandom generalization here) to be written as the "weak" ones in other pairings, putting them together usually results in the aforementioned scenario happening (and it doesn't work the other way either, because being mean to JC is like Joss said of being mean to first season Willow - whoever does automatically becomes evil incarnate and first to die in any cosmic conflict, and rightfully so). This technique is, personally speaking, demonstrative of a weak grasp of both JC and Lance, and I know that neither applies here.

We both make sense, I think, just not sufficiently in the span of a few LJ comments. We do seem to be on the level though. And like we said, the subject matter only lends itself to rational, objective analysis for so long...

It's just that Lance wants it his way and wants it now. And I don't think he realizes that JC is up to giving it to him the way he wants it. At least in our world.

Guh. Just, guh. The imagery! I *love* that world, man. Totally flattered that you'd ask me to play in the sandbox. I'd love to take a look at whatever you have.

So true. The thought of Lance taking what he wants just drives me completely around the bend.

I'd love to take a look at whatever you have.

Thank you so much. I'll definitely send you our draft of this shortly. I can't remember exactly how long it is, maybe 15 pages or so. Just the beginning of what it was meant to be. I got some great comments from Pablo awhile back but we haven't been inspired to work on it any more since then, so maybe a little more feedback would kick us in the ass...

(This, apparently, is my Power Bottom Lance icon. My unconscious choice of this picture three times in a row today has revealed to me that I always think of Pop Odyssey Lance as the Power Bottom Lance. So yes. Here he is again.)
