Lance seems to have the most variation to his character, the broadest acceptable spectrum in popslash. It's mostly situational, depending on things like pairing and era, for instance, but he's been written as everything from either extreme - shy virgin to bitter overlord-in-training - neither of which is entirely accurate, but neither are they entirely off-base, either. There's some showbusiness-savvy, dorky Southern boy middle, but the fact of this diversity, how much it accomodates without being unfaithful to canon, makes writing the persona of Lance an intriguing proposition rife with possibility. I like this picture because it embraces both sides so well.

A Little Rain by Tiffany Rawlins

Five lessons, once a week, through the tail end of a dry winter and the start of a drier spring. His third visit, Chasez brings a bag of sugar. Lance bites his lip and says, "Thank you." The fourth it's fresh beets from his landlady's garden, Chasez says, as Katie slices them into the soup. Then it's bluebell seeds pressed into the folds of Katie's apron when she isn't looking. "Learning shouldn't make things harder," he says, and tells Lance to call him by his Christian name.

Tiff knows the boys so well - this AU is rich with their voice, the way she paints the unforgiving landscape, the delicate details stark and beautiful against her backdrop, moving and bittersweet.

Stupid Ticketmaster. They've finally cancelled my order, which, as backwards as my world is, is a good sign, and in some part of my rational brain I *know* this, but I still felt a jolt of panic go through me upon reading the words on the screen.
