Today was all about the MMC footage. Downloaded a real mess of stuff from Kazaa (blessed be thy name) over the past week, and I sat down tonight to sort through it. Some impressions:

-I've heard the audio of JC and Tony doing Now and Forever. Tonight, I got to see the video, and I still can't quite watch the whole thing without forgetting to breathe. *So* talented. That boy is just so obscenely talented, watching him is like magic, rapturous and delightful. There's something endearing about his perfection that makes him admirable rather than enviable. You just want to give him the world if it'll keep him that happy to just be able to share his gift with you.

And I am a sappy, nougat-filled excuse for a grown woman. Moving right along.

-And speaking of flooring performances, Christina has always had that incredible, strong voice. What was she, twelve here, and putting Whitney Houston to shame.
-Justin and Britney were absolutely adorable pint-sized versions of themselves in every way. But in the way you know they're going to be, not in the way that JC's always been. I bestow offerings at my Matt Cassell shrine daily.
-You really could tell who would be big stars from that group. Some of those kids, man, it was like their birth was a live television performance and they just naturally did everything the best way to make an audience immediately fall in love with them.

The googlism thing was all worth it for this: JoLa is the weed of slash. Gateway drugs baby, gotta know how to pick your poisons.

Joey mah jongg has been conquered. The accompanying sense of growing accomplishment is entirely unwarranted.

It is bittersweetly ironic that I've been second to Dana Cohen in all the ways that really count. I won't lie - one of my goals this life is never to run into her again.

A.J. McLean heartily encourages us all to have sex in an elevator because it's "fun." I personally hate the feeling I get in my belly while going up (someone else make the joke about counteracting it by going down).

There was more, but it is gone (gone!) I am to sleep.

Yes! I've always said the same thing about Christina. I have many MMC Christina performances and she is just amazing in all of them. When she sings "I Have Nothing," it's like "damn, she's only 12 here?" Sometimes I think she sounded better on the MMC, or at least had a more mature voice, then she does now.

Her voice is beautifully clear and full on all the MMC clips, and while I can't exactly say I can point out precise differences, I know just what you mean and would probably have to agree.

Shivers down the spine, man. My jaw dropped when she opened her mouth. How she was the last one to get a record contract it beyond me.

Heh. I just watched a few of the clips I had. Just an amazing voice on that girl.

I'm not sure if she was the last though. I don't know if she had a record contract yet, but she did have her song "Reflection" on the Mulan soundtrack, which came out in 1998. She had recorded some demos around then too. I just don't know when Britney had her contract, if it was before Christina or not. Either way, Christina at least had a song out before Britney, so she wasn't last in that aspect.

Not having seen Britney's episode of Driven, I can only say that I do recall the Mulan song, but also that Christina heard about Britney getting a record deal while she was still either doing demos or being declined by every agency and that upsetting her, and rightfully so. Did I mention I'm completely boggled by this?

*calming down and enjoying more adorable clips* Disney needs to get on properly releasing this stuff, yo. I'm three steps from a letter-writing campaign.

Yes! I don't understand why they haven't released DVDs. 4 huge stars and a couple of medium ones, plus the people that just nostaligically want to catch up on the show. As long as you didn't price it insanely, $50 a season rather than $100, say, it'd sell.

It's madness! There's no real explanation. I wrote them an e-mail a couple of months ago and they said they had no plans to release DVDs. They've released episodes of the series from the 50s and 60s! Why not the 90's, especially since, as you noted, four.big.stars! I'm often puzzled by how I only caught three or four episodes having watched the Disney channel as much as I did back in the day, but the clips are absolutely *priceless*! For the type and subject matter, it was a *good* show.

Was it something that aired every day? Even if it was only half an hour, I could see how that would be prohibitive of a DVD release. But other than that? Your guess is as good as mine.

OK, now I vaguely remember hearing that. I just remember Mulan coming out before Britney.

I think there was a campaign, a small one, to get MMC reruns back on Disney.

Mulan was first, you're most definitely right, Christina was afforded her break before Britney, but not under a proper studio contract. Which just, grr, but we've hashed that one out and obviously things are as they should be now, so onward.

There's been campaigning before? Hmph. Disney is probably a lot harder to convince than most, but this is something I think I want badly enough. *mulls a troop-rallying post*

I'm not positive, but I just get the feeling that there was one. I know Disney did have a MMC marathon on Memorial Day '99. Other then that I haven't heard or seen anything about them reshowing the 90s episodes.

Which clips do you have? I have about 15 performance clips, mostly Christina. Plus a few skits and profiles.

We're talking just video, right? In that case...

Songs:
-Brit & Christina doing backup and dancing for Don't Walk Away
-Now and Forever
-Feel For You
-I'll Take You There
-I Have Nothing
-Another Sad Love Song
-I'm Not Over You

Skits:
-Smelle
-Lurleen's Sleepover
-the Gorilla skit
-the blind date/ex boyfriend skit
-Justin's basketball skit
-the Tom Sawyer skit
-Passing Notes
-Little Sisters Talk Show
-Parent Alarm
-The Water Channel

Misc:
-assorted Emerald Cove snippets, all of the first episode
-Justin and Christina doing the Season Six openings and intros

And a few other things I have on CD from a friend and possibly a few I'm not remembering that are on the other computer.

I'd probably do some pretty bad things to see the video of JC singing (and dancing! There's butterflies involved, I hear!) to Mysterious Ways.

You?

Wow. So, that's a very pleasing amount of early footage. If there's anything you don't have of mine and you'd like, hit me up on AIM (I'm on a DSL connection so it should go pretty decently). I'd like to also add my vote to those who have already spoken to post MMC footage in the community. Baby!Sync! Christina! Tony! Britney! There's just no logic in the Disney thinking.

I'd like some of the Emerald Cove bits and skits you have. If there's anything of mine you want, you can have it too. I wouldn't be able to transfer anything for awhile though. I'm at my dad's for the next two weeks and he has the slowest connection ever, so big files take like an hour+.

'K. Just drop me a line when you're back on your usual connection and we can party. :)

I forgot these:
Skits:
Date Interruptions, Little Sisters Talk Show, Lurleens Sleepover

MP3s:
Cry For You, JC - Remember the Time

I also have this Access Hollywood clip about Matt Casella and MMC. And I'm almost done getting "Walls Of Love" - JC.

Is Date Interruptions the skit with Justin as the Internet date and JC as the ex-boyfriend? They're too darling.

Remember the Time

?!?!?! As in the Michael Jackson song? *swoons* That is the first video I can recall seeing on MTV when I came to the states.

No it's different. Its with one of the older girls and Josh. Her little brother(TJ) and sister(Christina) keep interupting them. I know which one you're talking about though, with Rhona right?

Yup, that Remember the Time. :)

Yep, with Rhona. "Comprende?" Aiee! May have had to rewing the clip the first time because I was laughing too hard for the next thirty seconds. Seriously, nothing but love to Lance and Mario Lopez, but these kids are where talent is at.

Dude. Found someone on Kazaa with RTM. High holy moly. For the record, Matt Cassella is entirely my personal hero.

I agree. MMC had so much talent, that I'm surprised more of the kids haven't become famous.

Yay! :)
