I could spend money without being stupid or self-loathing, she cried!

So I did.

I can't even remember the last time I bought more than one shirt or one pair of pants in a store. I haven't broken three digits on a clothing receipt in... years, maybe.

Did it twice today.

The CDs and DVDs... weren't entirely necessary, per se. I've since decided, on a bellyful of popcorn and a swig of Sprite from my spankin' new Reloaded cup, that I'm okay with that.

Ross
-Filmy white peasant girl top. mostly see-through and entirely enchanting.
-Girly-cut Ralp Lauren Polo shirt in this electric pink with lime green logo. I think I bought it a little for the shock factor.
-Silver-studded black leather wrap, the kind all the girls have been wearing tied around their waists over jeans but with an edge. It's more fun my way. I haven't entirely resigned myself to the conventions of my gender yet.
-Off-green shirt with sparkly red and white Las Vegas logo. It's made out of this amazingly thin, comfortable, special-feeling material. I don't know, but it's love.
-Gray shirt with more logo goodness: Joe's Gas 'N Grub. Service With A Smile. Fill Your: *Tank *Tires *Belly. Yeah, me too. *bg*
-brown leather Nine West bag. $65 retail, $20 just for me! First new bag in five years that's not an evening clutch. Big step. Not that I'm ever getting rid of my black messenger bag. But I'm rotating now. It's the principle.
-canary yellow tanktop: Dude. I'm not a brand whore, especially not for this guy, but Tommy Hillfiger makes good stuff, and this is the best cut tank I've owned in forever.
-white all-purpose spaghetti-strap Express tank top with built-in bra: I live in these things. Comfort and style is the name of my game, and these are the staples.

Clothestime
-Pinstriped pyjama pants: In a rainbow of pink and red. They look like candycanes where each stripe is a different flavor, like cinnamon and cherry and watermelon, all in one stick. I like it, and hey, they're only pyjama pants to the narrow-minded, anyhow. *g*
-two pairs of leopard-print socks: I mourned when I finally had to throw out my original pair. They had glitter woven into the fabric! Even after a thousand washes, they were still there. Bonnie knows how long (way past the point of common sense - read: holes) it took me to get rid of them. I have a very real thing for socks. But all's well again.

CD Trader
I harbor vague amounts of guilt about this venture. I'd promised myself that should a CD meet the three-song rule, I will go out and support the artist by buying it first-hand. However, I am also a college student on a budget and as such, I occasionally bend said rule. Surprisingly, the world's kept turning and the recording industry is still going strong. Plus a bunch of the CDs were $0.99, and really, that's the best deal I've come across since I bought my first disc back in 1991.

CDs:
-Dido - No Angel - Possibly my guiltiest purchase. Would've bought this at the proper price, and wow. She really is amazing, outside of the standards everyone knows.
-BBMak - Sooner or Later - I really liked Back Here Baby and their song off the On the Line soundtrack, so why not for $5, right? English boy trio playing their own instruments in the vein of that poppy rock genre teenage girls breathe for. Not half bad on my own ears at that.
-INXS - The Greatest Hits - Dude, do not knock the 80s. People then were braver and had more fun than anyone before or since. Have you seen the pictures? That is all.
-Backstreet Boys - For the Fans - I actually bought their debut disc at the same time as Britney's, I do believe from the same place. This was... at least four years ago, near around the time I went to Maryland because I claimed they were for my little cousin there. Heh. I buy my paraphenelia head held high now, which I find vaguely ironic.
-The Rise and Fall of Brainwash Projects - The Rise and Fall of Brainwash Projects: Seems aptly titled. Otherwise, I'll get back to you.
-Various Artists - Teen Power - Pop music bonanza. Though really, it's the collector in me that made me do it. This Is Where the Party's At! I need not say more.
-The Wallflowers - Red Letter Days - Haven't actually heard anything from this album, so it stands in the most ultimate defiance of normal purchasing guidelines. But I like Jacob Dylan and the gang, and hope springs eternal. Hopefully not another Blue.
-Britney Spears - Oops... I Did It Again - Bought this mostly out of some petulant vengeance thing, a sort of price for wrongs wrought on loved ones. Grr, baby.
-Darren Hayes - Spin - It looked quintessentially moody alterna-rock cool. I'll let you know how things turn out between us.

DVDs:
There were about five more I was honestly jonesing for. Another day perhaps. And hey, maybe it was my shirt (tee from CFTC IV), but the saleswoman totally gave me 'N the Mix for free because I was buying so many other things anyhow. That was fun.
-Vanilla Sky: Trippy film, man, but also quite smart. Freaked me the hell out.
-Disney's Robin Hood: Short of Mel Brooks' parody, I find this to be the most satisfying and charming version of the story. May have had a minor crush on Robin as a wee girl, but you'll never prove it.
-Minority Report: No, it's not a Tom Cruise thing. This one took its toll on me as well in the theater. Psychological thrillers, table for one, thanks.
-*NSYNC - 'N the Mix: Dude! Been looking for this in retail stores forever, and now this trove of baby!Sync is finally within my clutches. Whee!

AMC Movie Theater
-Two words: Matrix cups. Heroes and villains, collect them all. I totally walked in, past *two* ticketing employees straight up to the snack bar. The girl behind the counter informed me that they only had one of the cups (the heroes, no less! Sorry, I have a real thing for compelling villains, too.) So, okay, huge cup of Sprite with an even more obscene-sized popcorn and I just kinda waltzed into the first theater that was showing said film. Never done it before, but man was that cool. Caught the last fifteen minutes and made a respectable dent in my loot. Did we know that The One was not only accounted for but contrived by the Architect? Yeah, me too. Snuck out with the rest of the patrons and actually did end up procuring the other cup, though through slightly more... questionable means. Really though, my brother's Muvico find? About their combined size, appropriate since that one has both sets of characters on it.

Rack Room Shoes
-tan Steve Madden wedge sandals at $35, and consequently half-priced dressy (!) black Capezio flip-flops. Coolest shoe purchase ever.

Marshalls
-The best little dress ever ever ever. A strapless number, black with tiny white polka dots and a red ribbon around the waist, flared skirt hitting at the knee with the cutest faux carnation on the left. I feel like someone out of the forties on her way to a small jazz club to dance the night away in it, totally glamorous and fun. And they hold my boobs! That's enough cause to celebrate right there.
-The single coolest collared shirt in all of creation. And utterly femme, too! A cross between JC's embroidery and Lance's penchant for knuckle-legth cuffs and low necklines, it is vertically striped with the design running along the vee of the shirt's opening. Eee! I actually gasped out loud and cursed quite involuntarily when I spotted it.
-Pinstriped (theme? Maybe) Bongo clamdigger pants, with a cute little drawstring backpack. Beachwear makes me so happy, and the fact that I could ostensibly keep living in it year-round and not be out of place is a hell of a bonus.
-To my mother's great joy, a new pair of dark brown corduroys. I trimmed the beltline off the old ones myself, which are now fraying at all the seams and are held up solely by the grace of my hips when I wear them. No longer! And for $8? I could sing about them.
-A spaghetti-strap, knee-length number, this warm amber brown in color with abstract patterning on it. It's filmy and girly and my goodness, I might be showing my gender.
-Tan with white tropical design flip-flops. Never can have too many flip-flops in this part of the world is what I tell myself.
-A breezy white-with-red flowery design dress. One of the most delicate and feminine things in creation - wonder if I can pull it off. Shall see.
-White jeans! I own a pair of white jeans! Only about a decade late, too!

Barnes & Noble
-Entertainment Weekly: Matrix Reloaded cover for the, what, second time in a month? Not that I'm complaining, just, wow, you know? First time seeing the new format. Less content, same heft and price. I despair, truly.
-US Weekly: Dude, after all the talk about the Justin/Ashton kingdom centerfold, was there any doubt? The Clay bio in the American Idol article was fun. But dude, I actually squealed "My boys!" when I turned to the Matrix Reloaded premier feature to find Adrian and Neil Rayment striking a kickass pose on the red carpet. And that was *before* I noticed how their jackets pull across their broad shoulders and the way their pants ride up on their thighs and stretch over their butts in the 'come and get it' stance. I'm not even going into the fact that there's a silver rhinestone design on their suits or that the entire outfit is white. My martial arts albino assassins! Eeee!
-Q: British music magazine, plus free CD of "ultimate Rock & Roll." White Stripes in bed on the cover, much less disturbing now that we know they're ex-spouses, not brother and sister, plus features on the Dandy Warhols, Duran Duran (I absolutely spazzed when JC cited them as an influence on his album in Rolling Stone), and an article on Homer Simpson entitled "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind". Sometimes I'm just *that* easy.
-Sci-Fi: Hugh Jackman on the cover, Matrix and X2 features inside, in-depth articles and lots of pretty, pretty pictures, including a new one of the twins! Plus Viggo in his infamous anti-war shirt (though notably without the Karl accessory),

Publix
-Outrageous Lemon Cookies: This is *better* than good crack, yo.
-Italian turkey wrap: Eh. I was really hungry and my parents went to a friend's for dinner, so it was either this or canned soup.
-S'mores Pop Tarts: Everyone's got a breakfast food weakness. These are mine. At least I eat it with fat-free milk?
-GQ with Keanu: Yeah, yeah, bite me.
-J-14! They thought they would thwart me, silly mortals. Do not mess with fangirls on a merchandise hunt, yo.

Damn, girl, that's a lot of shopping! Go you!

-INXS - The Greatest Hits - Dude, do not knock the 80s. People then were braver and had more fun than anyone before or since. Have you seen the pictures? That is all.

This is an awesome CD.

-The Wallflowers - Red Letter Days - Haven't actually heard anything from this album, so it stands in the most ultimate defiance of normal purchasing guidelines. But I like Jacob Dylan and the gang, and hope springs eternal. Hopefully not another Blue.

I love this one. Not nearly as much as Breach, but it definitely gets played. Hope you like it, too. :-)

Your new clothes sound so cute!

New clothes are so much fun! You're a brave soul for wading through all of that, too. :) I left off a brown Steve Madden jacket from Marshall's, which, ironically, is probably the item I've been wearing the most in the past week.

INXS rocks! Love them muchly, along with The Cure, Duran Duran (if it hasn't been abundantly obvious) and New Order. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era for my "popular" music.

Cripes, that's a binge if I've ever seen one *g* Beyond cool. You'll have to take us out for a little spree when we're out there next month now, you realize :-) Especially since I'll be holding off until then to make sure there's enough for everything else. Besides, it's almost the most fun to pick the outfit the day of...

Shopping can definitely be arranged, though there really aren't cool places like Melrose down here. Mostly the outlet mall variety, but I do remember where that little square in Miami is, and that seemed promising. Picking outfits is such fun!
