Cannot for the life of me figure how I didn't end up with a copy of the first Entertainment Weekly cover to feature Reloaded from about a month and a half ago. This makes me sad, as it is very pretty and probably contains a well-written, gushy article to go along with the pictures. Shall see about it on eBay.
Justripped: Christina does Lady Marmalade! There are no fewer than three horn players in Justin's band! Cannot.wait.
Also this, from
stubbleglitter: On the radio news this morning: "The FBI has recruited three fourteen year-old girls to teach agents how to convincingly pose as teenage girls online in order to catch paedophiles. The agents had to take quizzes based on pop culture; the first time, all of them failed. One agent refused to believe his answer that Justin Timberlake is more popular than Destiny's Child was wrong." Hee. I'd call them on it, too.
And while you're reading things, I'll do you a favor and save the trouble of looking for good stuff: Double or Nothing by Calico. See, I was actually going to sleep at a decent hour last night. I was all set to turn off the computer and crawl under the covers, and then I start reading this from god only knows where or how. Let's just say I have no regrets, even being just that much closer to that one-way ticket to the Seventh Circle when time comes. Heh.
Instead of the Movie Awards (though I did catch the opening skit later, which had me in stitches), I did research today. Went to the Barnes & Noble on Pembroke Road, gathered about fifteen or so entertainment/news/music magazines and did nothing but read and write for three and a half hours. My brain is so much pop culture mush.
-Third Eye Blind has a new album out! I am mildly ambivalent, given their sophomore effort, but will check it out.
-On account of presales, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is a best-seller on both sides of the Atlantic even before it's been rightly published. There will be 8.5 million copies made on its first press run.
In related news, caught the end of Sorcerer's Stone this morning. That Radcliffe boy really is perfect in the role, isn't he? Also, I ordered my copy from Amazon UK (it feels closer to source material and they have what are called Adult version covers that are just wicked cool) but it won't arrive until June 27rd - July 1st, they say. So I'm torn, as being the last one to read it won't do - do I attend one of the midnight parties at one of the area bookstores or order a copy from regular stateside Amazon? Will take under advisement.
Quotes of the Day - doing several on account of sheer material volume:
Actor
"Most of the appeal for me is that I got to play with Sam Jackson. Which could be taken the wrong way, of course."
-Colin Farrell on S.W.A.T. in Premiere magazine
Print Media, even if it's been already posted and pasted by everyone everywhere:
The most memorable Zootopia performance came from an underdog, the 'N Sync singer JC Chasez, who teemed up with a marching band and drum corps for his wild Sousa-goes-electro single, "Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love)." It sounded great, and it was over in about five minutes.
-The New York Times, and that's high praise, not even considering what they had to say about everyone else
Fanfiction
"Man, you're old." Justin grabbed for the bandanna in Chris's hand. "Why do you wanna watch a movie when you could be going out with the dancing and the girls and stuff?"
"Yeah, cause that's so different from my *job*," Chris said.
-That's just good gay boyband member logic. *g* From Torch's The Abdul Theory (Extended Behind the Scenes Two-for-the-Price-of-One Rhinestone Romance Remix)
[Ed. Note: PopOdyssey, Justin, and Chris mah jonggs have fallen as well, though the latter proved to be especially tricky.]
