It's times like this I wish more straight men read this journal.

But as it stands, I'll just pose this question to the ladies. Have you found the line "Do you listen to Pantera?" particularly successful in wooing you into further conversation? Perhaps immediately followed by, "Oh, 'cause if you did, I would've asked if you could burn me some CDs"? I'm like, yo, we started talking about forty seconds ago and now we're buddies in piracy? He finished up smooth though: "Stay beautiful." Sad that it was all in the dismount. In other Target news, Justin/Christina album has been achieved, as well as the new TV Guide asking if network television has become too graphically commercialized (personally, I find some of the advertising more offensive than the programming, though some people are more protective of their virginity than their intelligence, which, you know, to each his own. Dignity is good, retain what you can, /rant.)

Sushi is good. Sushi with Miranda is utterly fabulous. We were both in good moods today, so the conversation must've been fun to just watch even from a distance.

Your fact for the day: Even fruit snacks, though god only knows what in them, go stale. Go figure, eh? (Though I did let out quite the exhilarated shout at finally finding them at K-Mart, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] grrleloquence for the heads up.)

Bend It Like Beckham! Such the cute! And so very, very good! I really ought to listen to [livejournal.com profile] giddyupnow way more than I do, because eee! Totally go see it, everyone. Should you find yourself in need of a specific selling point, his name is Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, and oh. my. god. The man is absolutely gorgeous, and delightfully in a much less androginous way than in Velvet Goldmine (which I watched at least four, though probably five, times within three days for a film analysis paper my freshman year and somehow managed not to get Miranda in on its action. Must remedy soon.)

Also, these flavored chocolate sticks my mum got will be the end of me. Tonight's is raspberry, and good thing there's so few left is all I have to say.

[ETA: My first thought on coming into the pitch black computer room and seeing the little pilot lights on the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and tower was, "Gee, Lance wouldn't like sleeping in here at all." ... Uh, this might officially signal my desperate need for a hobby. Or something. I've been dreaming about playing instruments, maybe I'll finally get on that this semester.]

*helpless with laughter*

(I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you! Really!)

*pokes you* I think we should all watch what we chuck around our little glass house, hm?

*mwah* :)

Hey, I never claimed to be normal!

[identity profile] gjstruthseeker.livejournal.com 2003-08-03 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh, not that I believe in any entity with the power to do so, but I think if any of us were under any such delusion, there'd be a lightning bolt with our name on it coming to collect.

[identity profile] without-me.livejournal.com 2003-08-04 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Weird, but harmless. Hmm, that'd make a good tombstone inscription.

*ambushes both of you with snuzzles*

Dude, I think if any of you were normal, I'd probably run away screaming.

[identity profile] gjstruthseeker.livejournal.com 2003-08-04 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
But we all pull off looking normal so well! It scares me sometimes, to think what kind of people I might be walking next to.

[identity profile] giddyupnow.livejournal.com 2003-08-05 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's the point, though! It's, like, camouflage. Makes it easier to infiltrate, or something. And, y'know, take over the world.

*snerk* I bow down to your choice of icons for that reply. I am so not worthy.

I'd be his willing slave.

Tell you something you don't know, eh? ;)

[identity profile] gjstruthseeker.livejournal.com 2003-08-04 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
*giggle* Or something, anyway. I feel like we're speciments in a living museum: "And here we have the less common though no less devoted variety of fan, the oddus innocuous. They're calmer, much less prone to shrieking and other unbecoming behaviors, though with a notable penchant for writing fiction that pairs their male idols with each other rather than themselves."

Personally, I think we're having a lot more fun. You know, I think most of the people who went to Challenge weekend purely to run into the boys probably walked away at least somewhat disappointed. After all, the boys were there for the event, not any one person specifically. Meeting people/seeing old friends was, to me, almost as much fun as getting to see the boys (though maybe not quite on par with Lance taking his shirt off. *g*)

Hee! I like the way you think.

And, yes. You've gotta go to this stuff for the friends. Seeing the guys is frosting, for sure, but you can't count on it. And, frankly, spending time with friends like you doesn't really suck much at all!
