Moving Day

Lunch fiasco aside, today really was a terrific day, adventure and excitement and good times all around.
They finished the Student Advising courtyard! It's now lined with lampposts and there's a fountain in the middle and there are tables on a little oasis in front of my window, greenery everywhere and it's all so very, very lovely I could squee with joy. I settled for skipping along the new paths and humming happily to myself.
I was the very first person checked into the Murphree Area this morning. Mum made a bagel, coffee, and orange juice run as I held down our spot in line, so that kept us on our feet for most of the morning despite having only slept two hours last night by the time I stopped yapping long enough to fall asleep.
Ahem. Excuse me while I perform my newest yearly ritual. *sings a repeated chorus of 'I got the big room!' with rather random finger pointing and some pseudo-hula hip action*
Whee! Bay window and massive floorspace and we redecorated! My desk is now against the window so I can enjoy my beautiful new view, which creates enough empty wallspace in the back of the room to create a poster mural, which is good as I am apparently prescient of such things and brought up about six posters to get laminated for hanging. The extra space also means I get to invest in a chair! In an ideal world, it'd be one of those Barnes & Noble numbers with the deep green and white striped cushions. I'll settle for something inviting that has neck support. I'm getting soft in my old age.
They paved the stretch of 34th between University and 2nd Street! This was so exciting, I had to call Miranda - we drive over that every time we go to Publix and a lot of the times we go out to dinner or a movie, and every single time we gripe about how godawful it is. No more! And look ma, no sniffles. Whee!
In other McAlister's news, they've changed their menu and are disappointingly no longer serving my fare of choice. Lamentable, but hardly about to keep me at bay. If you haven't had their iced tea, you haven't lived, man.
This may not sound like much, but my mom, myself, a hammer and a wrench managed to flip my bedframe. It was loud too, I've got great neighbors for not only not inquiring, but not calling my RA - hammering of any sort shouldn't be going on as we're not allowed to hang things with nails.
Twenty-five feet of Ethernet cable was barely enough for our purposes, which was more eyebrow-raising amusement than anything else.
I just had the most satisfying shower in a while, not just because it's way overdue, but definitely in large part thanks to the glorious water pressure on the second floor of Sledd.
It seems appropriate, after all the (mis)adventure we've had today to end on this note: I love my mom. A whole lot more than those four words convey. She's amazing, ingenious and genuine and beautiful beyond anything I'll ever know. Personally, I won the lottery when I was born with her.
