I'm turning twenty-one in less than two weeks, and didn't even realize it until
isilya reminded me. Honestly haven't thought about it. But, legality! I've gotten all the underage drinking that I wanted/am gonna get away with out of my system, so it really won't be a hassle to just be able to flash my ID and get what I want, no covert ops necessary.
I wrote a two-and-a-half page paper in about an hour and a half between classes today. Managed to entertain myself by referencing both Independence Day and The X-Files though the paper had exactly nothing to do with aliens. Sometimes, you gotta look out for the amusement of #1 though.
Stats test tonight went off without too much frazzlement, but that's entirely thanks to the patience of
xalxuffasch, who is a king among men. He sat with my woefully incompetent ass for two hours and taught me everything we've done for the past two weeks. For you see, this is my secret shame. I've been in an accelerated math program since the sixth grade, but I can't actually do math. It requires many hours of detailed explanations and doing problems and a tolerant soul willing to put up with my frustration and still not getting the concept the second time around. Yes, with math, it really is third time's the charm for me.
Looks like I'm recycling last semester's MMC article for this week's venture. Which, no, not good, but this just wasn't my week in that department, and with one o'clock will dawn a new beginning.
pop_tarts is writing a righteous Lynn/Lance bodyswitching fic that's gonna be Lambs and Lynn/Chris, and possibly something else as well, and I'm all awibble with anticipation, wrongness be damned. Encourage the madness.
Congrats to Justin on his AMA nods. Hey, evil it may be, but good work is good work, even when it's the devil's. ;)
So, Aaron Carter? If it wasn't the Elvis outfit, he may have irreparably endeared himself to me with this lyric from I Would, courtesy of
amuse139: Scully and Mulder / they were made for each other. Sigh. My very first fandom. Good times.
They tell me it's Hiatus Day 506, and I should be commemorating. I love *NSYNC, and would give my eyeteeth, as the expression goes, to have the chance to experience them live for myself, if only just once. I love the people they've brought me to and am a happier person for their music. I live in hope because there's just no other way I can imagine being. I'm in this for the long haul.
It vexes me greatly that all downloading capabilities have been unceremoniously wrenched from me and I therefore cannot partake of the friendslist-wide Hits According to Chasez playlist. Roxanne! How absurdly giggly and twelve did I get? You'll never know. ;)
JC's Top 20 Songs Everyone Should Download
9/16/03 Blender Magazine / candycaller @ jjb.
In the new issue of Blender, they ask celebrities for their top 20 songs that everyone should download. Both JC (BMU) and Justin (CMAR) make it to the list from the editors of the magazine, but they also asked JC for his own list of 20.
1. A Tribe Called Quest - Electric Relaxation
2. Basement Jaxx - Yo Yo
-I can so see him rocking out to this song. It's kickass, was on my driving mix a few CDs back.
3. Black Sheep - The Choice is Yours ("This is a hip-hop song that kills in the clubs. I call it a 'point song,' because when everyone hears the 'Engine, engine number 9' hook, they point at each other and say it.")
4. Beastie Boys - Hey Ladies ("My favorite moment is the guitar, and then the sample: 'Da-na-na-all the ladies in the house!'")
5. BT - Satellite
-Second and thirding this recommendation. Absolutely gorgeous tune.
6. Duran Duran - Girls on Film
-Duran Duran! Girls On Film! *trips over her own feet in the rush to love on him yet more*
7. Electric Light Orchestra - Ordinary Dream
8. Jimi Hendrix - Crosstown Traffic ("Jimi's voice sounds like he's almost talking, but he's sitll singing. And his guitar sounds like a kazoo!")
9. Lenny Kravitz - Bank Robber Man ("Listening to Lenny, you think you too can hook up with a Victoria's Secret model.")
10. Bob Marley - Stir It Up
11. Massive Attack - Black Milk ("The girl's voice is stunning here, but it's all about that bass line.")
-Massive Attack! Dude, while you're there, get Angel and Tear Drop, too.
12. The Police - Roxanne ("That high note!")
-I am weak like a wee girl for this man.
13. Prince - I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man
-Prince! In some parallel universe, they're actually related.
14. The Prodigy - Baby's Got a Temper
15. Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar ("Whenever *NSYNC plays shows, we play this song backstage.")
-the visuals alone!
16. Bruce Springsteen - I'm On Fire ("'Hey, little girl, is your daddy home?' - that's the beginning of a great story.")
-Love him. Love. Him.
17. Sting - Fragile ("I'm a big Sting man. This song introduced Sting to jazz, but it's a little bit Spanish, too.")
18. Sting - Shape of My Heart ("It's a love story, but he uses this great metaphor of a deck of cards to tell it.")
-three tracks! Nothing cuter than famous fanboys.
19. U2 - Where the Streets Have No Name
-I can so see him as the kind of person to see the romanticism of nowhere places.
20. Van Halen - Hot For Teacher ("This one puts you in full-on stupid mode!")
-Did we mention the love?
Sometimes, JC Chasez renders me gibbering and utterly overwhelmed. He's pretty much laid waste to this entry.

Date: September 17th, 2003 05:20 am (UTC)I personally believe that nobody should have to justify their taste in music. :-) I just refuse to play that game, you know?

Date: September 17th, 2003 05:28 am (UTC)So, yes. :) JC is just wonderful about that, putting things out there and letting them stand on their own, and those who can appreciate them will do so no matter what others might say. That this includes himself is brave and ridiculously sexy.

Date: September 17th, 2003 05:35 am (UTC)And wow, that was my brain helping out by putting Justin in the desk next to him, the two of them exchanging a single glance and that's all that's needed for them to stay back after the bell rings and then...
Wow. *fans self* Sorry about the TMI, but man.
Nice icon. ;)
