2001 PopOdyssey Tour
Oct. 4th, 2003 03:53 amHad my first concert experience, buzzed on fizzy champagne (that we drank out of coffee mugs! We are nothing but class.) and Junior's marble cheesecake with Miranda by my side. Forgoing it actually being live, that is *precisely* as it should be.
-They all looked so.fucking.hot. Good god in all his glory. The Punk!AU!Sync thing in the beginning sequence? *wibble*
-The cloaked decoys and then the opening of the pyramid? Yow. And starting right off with Pop? And JC's jacket and the choreography during the second chorus that I live for? Purrr.
-Actually being able to hear Lance is always a Good Thing.
-Lord they move around a lot "".
-The stagehand wearing a Pantera shirt!
-The Two of Us provided not only a lot of joy but laughter with the hand gestures accompanying the title lyric.
-We must be pop! Miranda and I howled, man.
-Highlight? Definitely, by far, no contest, Space Cowboy. Flying down into the audience! JC and Justin on the catwalk! And fuck me gently with a chainsaw that entire sequence with the mechanical bulls was, like, obscenely and inexplicably hot, and the little alarm-engaging beep at the end! The costumes were fabulously sparkly and I want to lick every cubic milimeter of JC Chasez from the hair on his head to the tip of his littlest toe.
-Speaking of the boy, he broke me during This I Promise You. Yeah, that one will never in a thousand lifetimes get old.
-Lance tried hard to distract me with his lounging on the steps, but it was all about Justin falling to his knees on the catwalk during Gone was poignant and beautiful and moving in a way I haven't been able to think about the song since finding out that he wrote it because Britney took longer than usual at the salon one afternoon.
-It's Gonna Be Me! With the bouncing on the balls and the MTV ending and the energy and "Y'all know that we came to rock! Give us some of that dirty pop!" Nothing but love for this song. Also, we decided that belonging to JC and Lance isn't something they'd have to ask nicely. Rawr.
-JC's penchant for using the word 'freak' as a verb is endearing in a way it wouldn't be from anyone else.
-Gags that will never get old: the conveyor belts and popping out of the stage.
-There was much involuntary squeeing throughout, but especially at the beginning of Up Against the Wall. Still loving the cross-stage hoe-down choreography. And dude, there's nothing that's not fun about Velcro.
-Celebrity is a lot less offensive to the good senses when they're dressed in those coats and glasses and dancing like that. Also, we're going to exclusively mime the phrase "every day" from now on.
-Lance wears those bubbles, man.
-I could listen to No Strings Attached for a very, very long time before I started craving something else.
-A close second was The Game Is Over - the JoeClicious intro, the costumes were a thousand and one videogame hero dreams I've had and then the entire instrumental break sequence where they "fight" the boss? Holy shit. Joey's fighting stance. Justin's game face. JC but especially Lance as they "power up." All five of them during the final "attack." Promptly rewound to it because that elicited something truly visceral. I was squeaking with incoherence. Chris summed it up nicely at the end.
-It kinda showed up Bye Bye Bye. Except for that 'bye' JC holds. Always a spine-tingling note. Justin's little hip thrust on 'pop was nummy, too. His fluidity is almost unnatural.
Uh, yes. Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen, but I am about done like shish kebabs over open flame. Yow.

Date: October 4th, 2003 10:09 am (UTC)I really really want the Celebrity DVD. They did a great job on the POP one, I can only imagine what the Celebrity one would be like.
