Saturday was the last night of Birthday Week. After spending a truly monumental amount of time at the mall, I had myself a margarita in the heaviest glass goblet known to man over a fantastic dinner at Don Pablo's with Miranda. Two of the waiters were wearing Florida State shirts. Aaw, they must be new.

For footage night part deux, champagne was procured at Gainesville's other ABC Liquors, lest I acquire myself a reputation this early into my legal drinking career.

Sunday, I received an errant little piece of feedback on The Blue Bottle, only my second piece of (completed) fanfiction ever, from my days back in the Smallville fandom. Kinda cool.

Anyone else see the irony of my going through a hardcore Justin/JC phase just as all these kerfuffles are bandied about? Well, I'm amused, anyway.

And we add another celeb to the Justin Timberlake Fan Club in our Quote of the Day, with thanks to [livejournal.com profile] justbelimber:

"I really don't like 'NSYNC, but I'm not going to be shy -- I love Justin Timberlake's solo record. I think it's great, I think it's funky and groovy and it's fun, and I think that's missing from a lot of music, the fun. So that's why I put that on there. And I like to rock my body."
-Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional, on picking Rock Your Body to put on a personal mix tape

I forget how many that makes with Jamie Lee Curtis, Adam Duritz, Bubba Sparxxx, Ellen DeGeneres, John Mayer, and the Rolling Stones, plus a lot of others I'm forgetting and ain't it cool?

Also, this is a GIP, again with thanks and credit to Miranda. *hugs Justin* Me, too.

I know! All the too-cool-to-even-listen-to-anything-popular emo kids must be shedding tears but seriously, when something is good, it's good, and Rock Your Body is definitely a Good Thing. I'm amused that everyone else is just now discovering Dashboard, because Chris Carrabba has been a cool cat in my book for about two and a half years now, but hey, even MTV gets there eventually.

i've known about Dashboard since they first started to hit mainstream with Screaming Infiedelities. i didn't really like that first song, but i did think their sound was cool. i only just now really got heavy into them, because im totally enamored with Hands Down, the only song i'd heard off their new CD before i bought it and found out it was such an awesome record.

but yeah, it's always nice to hear about someone from one genre saying they dig someone's music from another genre pretty much totally removed from their own. it shows broad tastes and open-mindedness toward things that are different.
