Just filling the countdown interim.
Oct. 11th, 2003 01:46 pmIt took eight hours and a couple of sacrificed nails, but the Space Week article is done and e-mailed. Not that Lab Nazi will like it, but damn it, I do. And really, we're all past the point of anything but personal satisfaction as far as that class is concerned.
On that tip, there are yet more pictures of Lance building and launching rockets with wee children from Thursday. Passion has never been this dually adorable and sexy.
Somewhere in there, I caught Justin's "I'll rock your body" SNL commercial and may have pulled something important laughing too hard. Can't quite decide if his trying to be seductive either really was sexy or riotously hilarious.
How amusing was JC's suit jacket-cut hoodie thing on the Wade Robson Project last night? The hair though was fuckably gorgeous. Performing two songs on Monday! *NSider webchat on the 24th, too. Jayceee!
Early-morning espresso shot of Bassez, care of the Haiku generator:
cheeks warm. surfer boy
is always genial but not
in any parking lot
Backseat shenanigans! First try, too. Whoot!
So, Joey and Lance have decided to use the opportunity of going to Jamaica to partake in a little pre-marital paradise nookie under the guise of cheerleading for Chrissopher. Hee. I like how everyone has their own take on this scenario.
People are sharing their slash discovery stories. I'm an odd egg. I got into my first fandom, The X-Files, at thirteen, and was hardcore Mulder/Scully. I think I was actually shocked to come across a Mulder/Skinner story, but did what I usually do - opened it to a random page and read a couple of paragraphs.
Big mistake. The imagery of that one scene is something I've never come across again and do not care to. Ever. Suffice it to say it was a post-coital technicality that just really, really shouldn't be written about. So, pointedly put off.
During my brief stint in the BTVS fandom, I had exactly one story's worth of flirtation with Spike/Xander.
And then there was Smallville. My first episode was Nicodemus and so there was exponentially less HoYay! than most, but Miranda and I were into the TWoP recaps in no time at all and had absolutely no inclination to read anything else in the fandom. Where, really, if you weren't writing slash, you weren't being read. We found the archive not long after that and never looked back.
Quote of the Day:
"Your honor, the defendant is strangling the witness!"
"I'll allow it."
-Intolerable Cruelty

Date: October 11th, 2003 11:20 am (UTC)Though really, what I read wasn't tacky so much as, well, disgusting, honestly. Did you ever read The Sound of Windchimes? It game me that same kind of pit of my stomach disturbed feeling. If there is one thing I wish I'd never read, it's that story. *shudder*

Date: October 11th, 2003 11:35 am (UTC)When I first discovered slash, I foolishly thought that since Sean Spencer was so big, that must mean s/he got it right! I actually posted to a list, early on, asking if enemas were always required before butt sex. Yes. I did.
And, windchimes, windchimes, that's ringing a (cracked, scary) bell. That's not the Mulder-after-the-plague story, though, is it?
Damn, now you've got me ready to go hunt down URLs! *shakes fist*

*backs far, far away*
But no, no it's not. It does, however, involve alien kidnapping and it's just an overall horrifying motif. You know, there was a time when the Gossamer Archive was safe to tread. And then people went nuts. Don't track down URLs, in the name of all that is sacred.
Dude, the quantity thing is so deceptive that by now, I've all but learned to entirely disregard it as a measure of an author's merit. It's all about trusted authors' rec pages.
