it was all good up through the burrito
Jan. 7th, 2003 01:41 amWhich my kooky Macroeconomics teacher made me crave. Kooky econ teacher! Will wonders never cease?
Today was good. My puppy apparently refused to leave the sofa for my parents' bed last night, and she snuggled in and slept with me when I finally came in. Then I had to wake up too early, ate breakfast on the sofa with my mum, and finally shoved off at eight for the drive back to Gainesville.
I haven't been able to make that trip in under six hours in forever. There's a vaccuum of some sort that needs investigating here, I'm fairly certain.
I'm also fairly convinced that the white chocolate mocha I had at the Fort Pierce service plaza is singularly responsible for my still being awake. This alternately makes me grateful and unnerved. I may've actually wanted to be less sleep-deprived this term around.
What? I'm just saying.
I had enough time to stop in Orlando. My quest for fruit snacks was, well, unfruitful. But it's always nice to drive around in the vague hopes of (not literally) running into people. Plus it was a lovely day and I was a twenty-year-old in a red convertible with the world at her feet, and that's always a nice feeling. The city's layout makes a little bit more sense every time I get lost in it, so that might be useful someday.
Classes! Because I did in fact make it on time. Six hours and fifteen minutes driving notwithstanding.
Acting for NonMajors: The teacher wants improvement, not Shakespeare, and that's philosophy I can get behind. And the other people in my class? Well, lets just say that I don't feel the slightest bit of trepidation about getting up in front of them. Plus the class is being held on the top floor of our campus theater, all high ceilings and nifty seating and half-light and the acoustics are almost tiled bathroom good.
Macroeconomics: We've mentioned the cool cat instructor. The class will be easy and really, with me, it comes down to do I like the teacher as far as doing the work.
Our residence area's new desk clerk looks remarkably like Natalie Portman. If she were buying my alcohol, I'd card her just to make sure she wasn't.
CRW1101: Creative writing should inspire a lot more enthusiasm than all that. My teacher is a dispassionate punk with a bitterness/bored streak. The whole time I'm sitting there screaming about how this is going to be film analysis all over again. I like the premise of the class though. And the assignments seem interesting. It's just the guy. And everyone knows about me and writing for someone I don't like. Ergo, problem.
And we really need to go to Publix tonight, as they turned off the power in the dorms over break and we had to clear out and unplug our refrigerators. So right now, it's about six bottles of water, a SoBe green tea, some condiments, pancake mix and my mum's homecookin' care package.
S'cool though. For the moment, there's central heat and a few leftover bits of Godiva, and that's pretty decent.

There's just no coming back once the video for Bye Bye Bye gets rolling.
Freakout about this Friday's assignment has been squashed by my sheer brilliance. For the blessed event, we have to bring in our favorite song and lip-sync to it. It's supposed to get us comfortable looking "afool" in front of each other. My jaw dropped open and eye bugged in the appropriate cartoon expression of surprise when she said it, but now that I did some breathing and the brain is reoxygenated, I figured out that it could be any song at all, and why not do something someone else has already so graciously choreographed for you? Ergo, come swing by the Constans Theater at 4:05 p.m. to witness my to-be-superb pantomime of Maureen's Performance.

Also, his eyes were very blue and sparkly and somehow my body *knew* to wake up at 8:19 this morning without alarm *and* having gone to bed at 2 a.m. *pets brain* We travel that one track with true style and faith.

Grey Sanctuary: lol
Grey Sanctuary: amen, my sista
It's never said enough, so there's our contribution to the deficit.
billy_ got me thinking about recreational courses, since I'm thisclose to carrying only 12 credits yet again. Options as they stand:
1280 - Adobe Photoshop - Basics
-If I'm to pursue any sort of graphic design or even advertising aspect to journalism, this could definitely help. Or you know, just making pretty photomanips and covers is fun, too.
1330 - Webpage Basics: Building a Better Web Page
-The only class the university offers is through the Digital Arts & Science program is in the Fine Arts school and for majors only, so this would be my option beyond online tutorials and reading my own books.
1361 - Webpage Design Combo
-Ditto.
1463 - Ballroom Dancing (they offer clogging, hee!)
-I hold out hope that I'll actually have use for this skill later on in life.
1475 - Hip Hop
-Nothing that harbors even the slightest prospect of being able to help with my woeful inability to shake my ass despite five years of dance could be bad.
1578 - Jazz Dancing III
-See aforementioned five years. I always loved Jazz best though, and miss it something fierce. Plus it would help with getting up and performing in front of people again, too...
1802 - Massage
-*cough* Useful. *cough*
2005 - American Sign Language
-I taught myself the alphabet and a few key phrases in the car on a road trip to Washington DC. I find it intensely cool and fun.
2401 - Beginning Guitar
-Always wanted to play an instrument, and they don't offer the trumpet.
I'm to the shower and then to make the acquaintance of Introduction to Public Relations.
