Day Twenty-Seven
May. 27th, 2003 08:53 pmSo that was fourteen hours of sleep. Best Memorial Day weekend ever. Recovery complete, Day Twenty-Six posted.

From Challenge for the Children III. Now, a few things became apparent when I went to IV last year, one of them being that JC is absolutely darling and tries so very earnestly even though I'm sure he's figured out by now that basketball is just not his thing. Lance wasn't there, but the fact that they appointed Britney to run defense the year before... well, it speaks volumes. This picture makes me giggle every time.

"Come home," Joey said. "What's the hold-up? We miss you, man."
They did, Lance was sure. But they pitied him, too. In a few weeks, things would seem different. It would be like coming home, instead of like being forced out of Russia with his tail between his legs. "Even if I skip St. Petersburg...you know, I should probably go see my parents."
"Oh. Yeah. Well. If you change your mind...."
"Quit being so fucking accommodating." Joey and his awkward, awed silences. Joey never had known what to say when things got hard. Just how to hold him.
"Okay. Come to New York, you asshole. You know you want to."
The whole story. Yes. Especially Justin's amazing monologue at the end. Because as perceptive and level-headed as Lance can be, he's got nothing on Justin when Justin really wants (as opposed to idly - it doesn't matter, he'd get it either way) something.
