Lovin' it up 'til I hit the ground.
Feb. 10th, 2004 12:24 pmGot my first lead story headline/jumpline last night. It was all I could do not to squee and dance in the middle of the production room as Laura proofed the front page. Cameron even came back to the newsroom as we were packing up to leave to tell me he "really liked" my headlines all-around tonight.
School is going well, too, Editing notwithstanding, but we established last night that there are many people doing a whole lot worse than my low C in that class. We won't even discuss his having us count headline picas by hand today. *rolls eyes* I actually got mouthy with him when he called 'up' an adverb in the verb phrase 'to blow up.' Uh, no. 'To blow' has an entirely different meaning than 'to blow up' and fucking with me about that bit of grammar first thing in the morning does nothing for the annoyance I already feel for you.
Anyway.
I always work better when I feel like my effort is going toward some specific goal. So instead of griping about the reading and essays and dragging my heels, it just rolls off the tongue, the effort gets put in, the work gets done. It's refreshing to enjoy going to school again, especially since a year ago, I was so close to walking away from it.
Also, I love my mother. Inexpressibly large amounts. I am, as ever, completely unworthy but won't hesitate to run down South to hug her tight first chance I get.
In other news, Polaroid sponsored Outkast's Grammy pre-party. Hee. I'm sucked into two epic fics I've plenty of time to read before class tonight, there's milk in my house again, the cat is leaving this weekend and PhotoShop is a time-sucking abyss more insidious than even the Internet itself. But oh, the results. My fandom truly is the best ever, yo.
[ETA: Am I to understand Justin will be playing a journalist in the new Spacey/Freeman flick? *meep* I'll come down with Timberlake issues just yet.]
