Blessed be Internet connectivity. Not in my room, of course, that would be asking too much, but they don't mind your chilling at the office and I need to reassure myself that fandom has continued to soldier on. I'll just have to hope the media bandwith holds out. *rolls eyes at self*

Firstly, bighugelove to Schiz of [livejournal.com profile] giddyupnow for my very own John Hancocked copy of Schizophrenic and the yellowing, home-bound Star Trek fanzines. I love all the stories of my friends turning into wibbling, incoherent fangirls at the mere sight of him - friends, it should be noted, who have met/been in proximity to him before. He really has been looking exceptionally gorgeous though.

The weekend. )

Missed JC on Sharon, but not Lance schmoozing with Donald Trump. Made me snicker, that did. Wonder if he's the powerful friends JC was alluding to Lance colluding with. It's a thousand futurefics come true! Maybe Lance does have a plan, and all those authors will laugh at our scorn when all our paychecks are stamped with his signature, with secret agent!JC by his side doing his bidding. Or you know, something.

My week's nut craving has culminated in peanut M&Ms with bonus, unrelated lasagna on the side. Mmm.

Also, there was a French essay due Friday which I'd all but forgotten about until lying down at around 2:30 this morning. I couldn't muster the energy to stay awake so I drafted it in the morning during my shower before History of the Revolution. Not sure I have much to explain how this came about from an assignment that involved giving a description of and relating an anecdote about a person. Only the title is French, and translates to As You Wish.

Comme Tu Souhaites )

I wonder to what (and when) he wakes up. My theory of a benevolent universe dictates the guys would still know each other, but who knows?

*hugs Ethernet* I shall miss you mightily. Ta!

The paper is totally student-run downstairs, and management is out way before it's even done. Online comes in around one o'clock and usually takes about two hours, so it's just practical but mostly, it'd just be a hassle to shut down, and so when needed, one is welcome to stay, tool around on the computers, partake in reasonably priced vending machine fare, relax on the editor's couch or do cartwheels in the production room. Me, I had three days of LJ to catch up on and more reviews to go over (with a hearty thanks to all who have been dutifully tracking them down) not to mention French homework to avoid, so I stayed.

It was lovely, silent and tranquil and the good kind of surreal. I got to watch the sky turn shades of blue I rarely see on my walk home, the air smelling of bagels and coffee. I love watching the world wake up just before I'm going to bed.

Three hours later, it was American History followed by a marathon session of French homework, which I completed in the single hour before class and spent the walk there with my nose buried in new vocabulary and keying myself up, only to find out that the test isn't until Wednesday. Miranda reminded me that the alternative is much, much worse, but now all my anticipatory adrenaline's been wasted. How's a girl supposed to go into a test level-headed?

Don't quite know what to do with all this afternoon before work at six. The adrenaline comedown is pretty much keeping sleep at bay, and I do need to do some grocery shopping, but mostly, I just want to curl up on my friend's couch and watch Queer As Folk episodes.

And maybe I will.

As far as naps, they say either three hours or twenty minutes, and as you all know, my intelligence level is often equal to that of a not very smart single-celled organism. But as a testament to my body, after a whopping three hours this morning and an eleventh-hour afternoon nap, I can still call myself functional, and this is where I bless youth.

And actively not think about turning 22 this year.

Ran into my friend Logan en route to work – he was holding a social for an honors frat he’s involved with at a local pizza place, the Mellow Mushroom, and hooked me up with the best slice of plain cheese pizza ever.

Oh, and Justin shadowing a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist in a courthouse putting in public records requests? ::meep:: Excuse that puddle of goop formerly known as me.

Question of the night: Would my talking about the Women’s Gym getting a facelift set the movement back a decade or three? Also, I quoted the Beatles and the Violent Femmes in two separate headlines and came close to using Tom Lehrer for a third, which is plumb good fun.
