As it stands:
John Phillip Souza - Stars and Stripes Forever
Frank Sinatra - Just the Way You Are
Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World
James Brown - Living in America
Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water
The Drifters - On Broadway
Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode
The Beach Boys - Surfin' USA
The Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive
Grease - Grease Lightning
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
Steppenwolf - Born to be Wild
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Runnin' Down a Dream
Madonna - Material Girl
John Cougar Mellencamp - R.O.C.K. in the USA
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Aerosmith, Britney Spears, *NSYNC, and Nelly - Walk This Way
EPCOT's American Adventure - America
*NSYNC - The Star-Spangled Banner
Don McLean's American Pie was both too long and, given that I know the backstory, a bit too depressing for this venture. Springsteen's Born in the USA has been voted down upon closer inspection of the lyrics, though the man himself has not. The Battle Hymn of the Republic remains under consideration, as well as selections by Prince (he wasn't British, right?), Elvis Presley, and Michael Jackson.
Suggestions are, as always, welcome.
The other CD of accompaniment is the mix of the moment, otherwise known as the Ephemeral series:
Spiral Staircase - More Today Than Yesterday
Junior Senior - Move Your Feet
Basement Jaxx ft. JC Chasez - Plug It In
Robbie Williams - Millenium
Good Charlotte - Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous
Billy Joel - Uptown Girl
*NSYNC - That's the Way Love Goes
Sting & the Police - Don't Stand So Close to Me
Del Amitri - Roll To Me, Baby
Tony Lucca - Immaculate Dawn
Duran Duran - Rio
Madonna - Material Girl
Justin Timberlake - Cry Me a River (live on SNL)
JC Chasez - ADIDAS (live on the WRP)
Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby
On the Line All Stars - On the Line
Ivy - Edge of the Ocean
The Romantics - What I Like About You
Britney Spears ft. Madonna - Me Against the Music
Tom Cochran - Life is a Highway
Good times tonight brought to me by the fantastic and generous creature known as
silentfire. Thanks for all the help, baby. *hugs*

Date: October 24th, 2003 04:19 pm (UTC)Prince? Like his Royal Purpleness? If that's the one we're thinking of, the midget's from Detroit.
A nice counterpoint to Born in the USA would be Country Joe and the Fish's "Feel Like I'm Fixing to Die Rag".
