It was a big day in Smalltown, USA.
Nov. 5th, 2003 11:54 pmOf all people, my journalism lab guy gave me a second wind this morning. I finally went to see him to get the lab assignments for last week and we had a chat. Basically, I've been a stubborn brat who'd rather lick her wounds in private and keep some perceived dignity than make any kind of compromise, and that's just not going to work in this scenario. We discussed my writing as well, how to make it more suited for the class - basically, I know how what I'm writing can be locally applicable, but I'm not conveying that enough in the copy. And apparently, despite all of this he claims to like me and really is cutting a lot of slack in my having the opportunity to make that up. So a little less trash talking that way from now on.
My article for this week is about the Revolutions premier. I'm making it sound so much better than it actually was. But yeah, it's a good article, I spoke to no fewer than five people about something I like, too. Though to be entirely honest, I think my strengths and interests lie more with copy editing than reporting. Shall see. For now, making up for lost time.
The law of conservation of hair within the *NSYNC camp is once again reaffirmed - as Justin shaves his head yet again, JC not only resurrects the chinstripe but a mustache to boot, and...
Joey's been growing his out for Grease. Which is in two and a half weeks! I won't survive it, I really really won't. Every time I so much as think about Joey up there with the hotrod in a leather jacket singing Greased Lightning, my chest tightens and my stomach flips and I can hardly contain the squeeing. Miranda and Schiz will have to sandwich me and take turns making sure I'm still conscious/holding me down.
Riprock and Alex G are sadly parting ways. I'm still so very amused at the thought of JC living with them and calling the answering machine to sing something he got in his head, then walking in later to find them already at work on it in the studio. *g*
raedoro put together a scrapbook of Lance's boyfriendJess[i]e here and apparently we've someone in our midst whose sister knew him when they dormed together at UCF. *hums It's A Small World under her breath* Hey
gegenschein, do you recognize him at all?
John Mayer quote about his sexual relationship with Justin, gacked from various and sundry:
From the "Dear Superstar" section of the December 03 issue of Blender.
Q: A friend of mine went to the party Justin Timberlake threw after this year's VMAs, and he said that you two were flirting. Any truth to this?
A: Could be. Maybe. There's a certain sexuality that some friends have, absolutely. I think sexuality has to exist between any two living things for those two living things to get along. You know, do Steven Tyler and Joe Perry flirt with each other? Absolutely. That's what makes things cool. But not, like, weiner-in-tush flirting. By the way, that's the extent of my vocabulary when it comes to working "blue."
This and JC and JoJo's gossiping during the RMA interview about BT's macking skillz (JC is allegedly the best though) make me giggle like a happy little loon.
It's been a year since Justified, and Blender found it worthy of the #5 spot on their 50 Greatest CDs of 2003 List:
"Pass that King of Pop crown...
Years from now, boyband refugees will pore over Justified for tips on how to stay on top. This is Michael Jackson's Off the Wall revamped for the TRL generation, combining state-of-the-art beats, faintly risque sexuality and swaggering confidence without even breaking a sweat. Stepping out with Cameron Diaz confirms Timberlake's status as bona fide pop royalty."
Also, Teen People readers loved on him for Coolest Artist of the Year, Best Video and Best Breakup Song for Cry Me A River, Best Eye Candy and Dream Collaboration... with Britney - dude, people need to let. go. (All info from

I listened to Rock Your Body and Let's Take A Ride on my ride home, and realized that there simply isn't a favorite of mine off the album because each track is just that good. And after fifty-two weeks, it's still on the charts, not just my CD player.
Who would've thought, eh? Not even the most optimistic among us, I don't think.
fuskeez also posted an article that he's been tapped with the likes of B.B. King and Isaac Hayes to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rock 'n Roll in Memphis. Just wow.
And a year for Blowin' Me Up, too! Good times, man.
Chose classes for next semester. So far:
JOU 3110 - Applied Fact Finding
JOU 4201 - Magazine Editing
ENG 4133 - The ABCs of Cinema (I haven't the slightest clue what this class is, but it's about cinema, it's in the English department, and it's taught by a professor who's described as a "part time punk rocker." I am so, so there.)
AMH 4130 - American Revolutionary Era
ENL 3414 - Hypermedia (online publishing)
Overall, very excited. It'll be like this semester, but for real this time.
Today was also my day for fiscal windfall: $50 rebate from Verizon and a huge refund from the credit card company for that mischarged set of sheets. Plus, the father figure said he's sending a check along with my rent for next semester. One time for pseudo-security of finances.
Colin and Orlando look just as pretty in period attire as Brad. Troy will be an orgasmic experience for the fetishing within. McKeen told us about a news program that Walter Cronkite did at the beginning of his television journalism career called You Are There, which was a feature program that re-enacted the news from centuries ago. So there'd be the costumed Romans in all their regalia storming up the steps of the Colosseum to assassinate Caesar and Cronkite would step out from behind a column and narrate the rest. It sounds like the most fantastic program ever.
Tom Welling has such classically handsome features. Tonight's 50's-themed Smallville would've been better enjoyed with the sound off, though. I keep forgetting that.
And a day wouldn't be a day without a British tabloid shocker - they've uncovered that Justin proposed to Cameron. See, I get indignant about people's low opinion of journalists, and then I remember the kinds of things that come from some of the ranks and just seethe quietly because they're sadly not entirely wrong.
JC was #1 on Atlanta's Q100 today! Woohoo! Go team us! As for the remix itself, I don't think ODB added anything - the rap is as slinky as the rest of the song without any of its irreverence. No matter, there's simply nothing on this green Earth that would spoil that bridge, yo.
I am so past the point of common sense here. Good night already, eh?
