Friday was nice and languid, Growl was mostly boring but I can always go for Sugar Ray and fireworks, so the last half hour or so was more than worth the price of admission. And, of course, Revolutions, which was good times.

Jack and his friend Paul rolled into town from Georgia Tech on Saturday. We had a fantastic dinner at Sawamura (gotta keep remembering how good that place is) and Cold Stone ice cream before driving out to rural Gville (read: three miles north of Newberry) and watched the lunar eclipse with Kathleen and Angela, Paul's friends from the theater department here. Kathleen's the best storyteller I've met in forever. God doesn't like fish (and by the time that made it to the record it ended up as hating gays), and [Laura O.] doesn't need to wait for the brownies to cool - she likes them warm just fine. Trust me, those two had us rolling on the ground in tears.

Then we went to Starbucks and met up with a few of their other friends, among them two fantastic and delightfully gay theater boys named David and Patrick. By the end of the night, I was caught up on all the drama gossip, departmental politics, and been not-inappropriately groped by both in the course of re-enacting separate stories. Loved them both.

We woke up to weather this morning - the temperature dropped about twenty degrees with a good breeze going. It's absolutely gorgeous here, and we left the windows down on the drive to breakfast. Panera is mostly unimpressive, but we talked lots and drank too much coffee before going to Barnes & Noble, then sent the boys on their way before finally making that much-needed Publix run. Mmm, sustenance.

Fannish news:
-Cheers for JC's Making the Video and two announced club dates!
-Jeers on NBC for their continuedly asinine journalism when it comes to putting together a coherent special about anything that's happened after 1990.
-Cheers to Justin's generosity regarding going to that hospital for the fan injured before his Coliseum concert, his new penchant for kilts, jumping onstage with the BEPs to give "the best performance of the evening" (-BBC) as well as DJing for an Edinburg club's student night.
-Jeers to Jive for taking so long to get their heads out of their asses about JC's album but a tentative Cheer for the steps they've been taking in the past few weeks.
-Cheers to JC himself for making such a solid song that no forced collaboration could've possibly hoped to add to it. Cheers also to all the fans who support him so enthusiastically.

Interesting tidbits from here about Justin going through "an I-don't-want-to-do-this-anymore" phase during the lawsuit with Lou and Britney encouraging him to go solo. This was also interesting as a character point: He admits that he has, in the past, been depressed - partly because he is a perfectionist and a workaholic. He can be petulant, and there have been surly exchanges with fans. I knew about the lawsuit involving the girl (what a retort when he refused to sign the autograph! I bet the guys razzed him about that for months.)

Lance is co-hosting The Sharon Osbourne show next Friday, with guest Marilyn Manson! I almost fell off my chair laughing at the mere notion. That's gonna be a hell of an hour of television.

So I'm not doing SeSa but it's fantastic to see everyone being so enthusiastic and posting about loving their pairings. I've got my own Christmas projects going, one of which received a significant boost from some discussion with Miranda and Jude's Red Room. Hey, blame [livejournal.com profile] silentfire for the unrequited Bassez, I'm just the one commissioned.

There's a fantastic new series of ads for preventing identity theft that has normal people doing normal things but talking in another person's voice, telling about all the things they bought on some poor sucker's (their own) credit card. I'm just always so encouraged by competent advertising. It's quite rare.

Now, I'm going to buy more icon spaces because Miranda continues to keep me happily in them. I've had the idea for this icon forever, but she took it to that next level Justin loves mentioning so much.

I like the boyfriend, I really do. They're so cute, going everywhere together! I've got about 10835437 more pictures from the same event if you'd like them.

Justin is something else, man. Completely beguiling.

And yo, JC's "simply being" is pretty damn cool enough. He's about to kick it, and I'm not sure I'll be ready but man am I willing.
