I went on a quest last night.
Shut up. You move out to Bumfuck, Centra Florida and see how you have to resort to making your own fun. I can totally see why the outrageous whim of creating an internationally-reknown boyband even occurred to Chris, and seemed just entertaining enough at the time to pursue.
Anyway, my adventure.
Happily, our nearest bookstore is not as far as I'd feared, and with the purchase of PoA I, some way or another, now have two copies of all the books. Mmm, yes. I really do want to get to OotP before the break is out. It's also right near the Wellington Mall, which is decidedly the most sprawling and beautiful shopping structure I have ever seen. It's this oasis of pretty in the flat, marshy wasteland. I'll have to check it out for reals before leaving.
Visited the amusement park-sized Wal-Mart as well. Jesus, Mary and Joseph! And all heaven's angels, and the good people of Bethlehem, and all the prophets, and just about everyone mentioned in Genesis! Because you could fit them all in there and still have to play Marco Polo to find anyone. The place is enormous. The freezer section alone made my knees weak. And the cereal aisle! They needed two aisles to fit all the varieties! I've never seen the berry version of Count Chocula! Scored Looney Tunes cereal, and really, there's nothing like a bowl full of rainbow-colored spheres of fruity goodness. Scored some champagne for New Year's, sparkly metallic markers, a fantastic bra, and...
Prince's Purple Rain. Holy my good god. Why didn't anyone tell me about this album? It's the most cracktastically joyous thing ever! No nevermind that I like JC's version of Let's Go Crazy better but can't possibly love When Doves Cry any more, the entire album is one fantastic romp of 80s goodness that's reawakened something dormant inside my very soul. It's. I. Yeah. In a very, very big way.
CFTC VI in Miami, you say? I feel for all my friends who can't make it and wish you all independent wealth before July. Personally, since I live an hour and a half away now, the only benefit is knowing the lay of the land. If anyone needs info about hotel locations/geography/logistics/driving times, feel free to drop me a line.
I baked biscuits for lunch. Well, I cracked open a can of Pillsbury and preheated an oven. But, biscuits! And tea! And yeah, I might be very very lame in the kitchen department. I plead college student.
Caught the middle of the last half of Sorcerer's Stone and the beginning of CoS on one of our cornucopia of HBOs this morning. *fans self* Harry/Draco, man, it's a wonder Rowling isn't suing Chris Columbus for "corrupting" her vision.
Also, I woke up this morn-- yeah, okay, afternoon, craving epic Bassez. Not AU, but current, real life Bassez. My friends are a corruptive influence.
I kid! *smooches
without_me and
walkingshadow anyway*
It might just be because I want to be finished writing it.

I've never been to Miami, but can only assume it must be hotter than hell down there. Can't wait!

Really though, on my own time I'm a JoLa girl. I've just been hanging out with the Bassez kids too intensenly. ;)
Miami is fairly hot, but it's tempered by the seabreeze and last year, we had a healthy cloud cover for all of Skills Challenge which was held out on the beach, so not too much with the bad there. Plus, boys in bathing suits! And Lance stripping off his shirt every two seconds! Aah, fond memories.

If you like Purple Rain, then you'll like 1999, too.
that sounds like a logic problem: if=then. hee!

Aah, logic. Sixth grade. Loved it, looking into taking it for my math requirement here at UF. :)

Hmm! Music recs? 80s bands, I take it? Talking Heads, especially Remain in Light and Speaking in Tongues. B-52s, DEFINITELY. Um. Parliament/Funkadelic. Michael Jackson, hee. Tears for Fears. INXS!! Yes. The Clash.
I have to go listen to music, now.

I guess I'll be seeing you in Miami, huh?
no subject
Oh, definitely you'll be seeing me in Miami. I've been to the last two, wouldn't miss it for the world. I'm soaking up all these appearances to make up for coming onto the scene so late (Challenge IV) and never actually having seen them perform together. I've got hopes higher than the heavens for this one though.

There's also a Purple Rain movie. I never watched it in its entirety though. Mostly I saw montages from the movie that were slapped onto a music video.

*scribbles down info* Got it. I'll either be circling or waiting for you inside, depending on when I arrive. Just give me a ring.

Yessss... it is all proceeding exactly as I planned...
I mean! Hi! How can I help you in your search for the epic Bassez? I don't have my bookmarks on me and am too lazy to go looking (though I will later), but there's
Oh! A Slow Beating Between Them, because, hello. ::has no brain:: Though, er. That's an AU, and apparently not what you're looking for. But I really will try to think of stories you haven't read that I haven't already passed on. You interested in Arsenic's hurt/comfort ode to the pairing? Hmm. ::trots off::
no subject
Anyway, yes, I've read both of those stories and missed Advertising the day Tiff Rawlins posted A Slow Beating Between Them to read it, if you'll recall. ;) I do hurt/comfort willingly and like Arsenic. Bring it all on.
no subject
I'm not likely to forget. Which is why I'm looking for ones you haven't read.
Ode ::brings it on::
