"We're very excited about how well you did on the copy editing test, and could you start tonight?"

You don't understand. This is the largest student-run and one of the most prestigious college newspapers in the country. Daily editions Monday-Friday and this is the dream of every journalism student on the University of Florida campus and they want me! Sundays and Mondays and I get a desk!

I'm Alligator staff!
Starting tonight!
At the office!
At eight!

Oh, I'm not under any delusions that this will be a grand, glamorous affair. It will be lots of fun because the newsroom is full of cool people, I like the job, and there's nothing like seeing your name in print. Check, check, and check. It'll be long hours and absolutely crap pay, but the experience, personal and professional, will be priceless.
