Hee! An office! I work in a genuine newsroom with odd desk arrangements and a goofy staff and too much damn fun is being had on this end. They're all such a friendly bunch, everyone asking how my first day went, what I think of it all, and being enthusiastic through the exhaustion we were all fighting towards the end there. They're not paying us much of anything at all, but let me assure you right now, none of us are there for the glamour and glory.

I can't wait to see it in full swing tomorrow afternoon, writers and photographers running around to make 5 o'clock deadline, editors and graphics arguing about the page setup and space allocation, copy people scribbling silly and serious headlines at the same time - I love it all more than I can express already.

One of the managing editors, Laura, gave me a ride home, which was right decent of her considering the weather and, well, the dark. She may have used the word "impeccable" to describe my grammar during the course of our conversation. *basks* Also, I've read tomorrow's paper front to back (minus the sports section, they get their own subdivision of staff), and how cool is that?

Now if you'll excuse me, while I'd love nothing more than to pass out, I've got a healthy gob of history to read and two chapters of French to do before tomorrow is upon me. And yet, all I feel is the pleasant tingle of excitement at actually making it all happen.

This is fun.

Thank you kindly. I'm genuinely surprised that it is all those things, since the expectation's been building in my head for years. But the real thing is so much cooler and more fun.

Also, I might love that icon a lot. Chrissofer at a keyboard, looking nonplussed! Heh. That was me last night when the head copy editor was having me read three stories and writing two headlines at the same time. I didn't get out until 1:30, when I looked around myself and noted with some amusement that I could've sworn I wasn't night editing.

Which I wasn't. 'Cause if I had been, "plauged" still wouldn't be a word in the English language, much less in a 34-point headline. *shakes head*
