They credited me as an Alligator staff writer on the article I wrote this weekend (which interested parties can see here). I was expecting to just be staff, but yeah, I suppose writing does make me a writer. Still, big grinning being done on this end.

Oh, the history essay test? Aced it! Go me. Essay tests rock the casbah.

Found a Delta Gamma Sorority girl's windbreaker. Of course I'm going to turn it in to lost and found, but I was considering keeping it for maybe a couple of days in the interest of conducting an informal social experiment to see if anyone treats me differently.

Apparently, it's a clingy, codependent day. Jon saved me from the ex-boy and walked to French with me - such a class act, that one. Plus, he squeed with me about Spike saving the world and pointed the way to new Viggo pictures. *loves*

This morning on CNN, all they talked about was the anti-gay-marriage amendment, about which I'd like to cite all the people who've said how ludicrous it is to legislate discrimination and the obvious conflict of religion playing into governmental regulation. So much for ensuring the blessings of liberty unto ourselves.

I have one Lamby sock. The other, sadly, has bit the big one, but one happy blue sock with textured lambies is still one happy blue sock with textured lambies, and the way I'm sitting right now, that's the only foot I can see.

Hey, ZTA! Ooh, I am so sorely tempted to take you up on it, but it would be like talking the talk without actually walking the walk. Somewhere in my heart of hearts, I always wanted to be in a sorority, but I'm not nearly rich or social enough for it. Mostly, I just don't want to be found out and have to fear getting my ass kicked by their fraternity boyfriends, so I think I'm going to just return it.

I could just ask you - do you treat other sorority girls any differently than non-Greeks?

I enjoyed it. Though at the U. of New MExico, I think our chapter was pretty un-sorority. In fact we folded my senior year. It was fun and I had some good friends and one incredibly good one left from those college days. trixiesfic.
There are still some snooty sorority types of girls out there, but I think now a days they're much more accessible than they were 10 years ago.

Mostly, I just don't want to be found out and have to fear getting my ass kicked by their fraternity boyfriends, so I think I'm going to just return it.

No, because they're not any different from non-Greeks. Some of them think they are and they just annoy me. I'm the type of person who can get along with just about anyone-- unless of course-- that person is a narrow-minded, holier than thou, compassionate conservative, ;-). Add snotty people to that list too.

I think you can have a great experience in college by not going Greek as well. I enjoyed it and for me it was good. I went to a small high school, was an only child and pretty sheltered and overwhelmed when I went to college. I think I could have had just as good of a college experience just living in the dorms. I may have actually been a better student.

And see, I don't approach sorority girls any differently, either. All I'd see happening is maybe a few people would more readily make conversation with me, but other than that, I don't see it as something that would hinder or benefit me in any significant way.

Like I said, it's the highly social aspect and the making nice with people I don't necessarily want to make nice with that daunts me. There's only so much social I'm willing to muster, and definitely only for people I want to be with. Neither of which is the philosophy of sororities, nor their function. I've been pretty good about making my own fun.

But hey, good on you for having a good time. Sounds like the ideal environment given your background. And hey, you met Christine! Not a bad deal.

I have this weird habit of making friends with the sorority girls in my history classes. Without exception they've all think I should've been in DG...dunno whether they were being serious or just mocking me, but still, funny that you should find something belonging to that particular house.

Also, how much does it piss me off that I actually covet the cute sorority clothing? My mother raised me to abhor the whole institution -- I guess it's my subconscious way of rebelling. *g*

*lol* Thank you! It's terribly exciting to proof your own work. And heh, yeah, Swiss army knife is about right. It was just this past week though - as much as I'd love to throw myself into this job completely, I've got grades to keep up and there's no way I can juggle that skillfully.

Funny you should say that - I was going to buy two copies last night but only had enough to justify springing for one, which I was going to give to my pop culture major/ex-journalism lab TA, Al, tomorrow along with my binder of highlighted/commentaried articles/reviews/releases/miscellany about JC. So essentially, I don't strictly have a copy. And otherwise, um, have I been known to turn down anything when it comes to that boy? I'd adore (and possibly cuddle, snog, name, and parade around) an autographed (*meeeeeeeeeeeeep*) copy.

It's funny, I've been telling your story to all my friends today - my roommate heard our entire conversation last night and asked me what had you so psyched and me so amused last night. You were there! You saw him! And "spoke" to him! Twice! I'd still love to hear audio/see video of that encounter, by the way, with strict promises that it will go no further. I'm so sad I missed you fangirling out over him. But he really, really has been looking exceptionally gorgeous these past few days. No one person should look that good in general, much less with a cold/exhausted/getting over food poisoning. Somewhere, some village is hurting from the pretty vaccuum his existence has created.

And... wow, your roommate heard that? Huh. I don't know how to feel about that. She must think I'm a complete moron. As for the clip -- I actually added it to the end of the composite video clip that I put up on my site and just took the sound off of it so you can't hear me making a fool of myself *g* I think it's best that way. Heh.

Like, seriously, it might have been different if there was greater distance or if we were allowed to come up in pairs or a variety of factors, but putting him smack in front of you like that really is not conducive to any form of calm coherency. I might have been terrified more than anything else. "Spoke" really best says it -- I only half registered what he was saying and wouldn't have even noticed it if it weren't on the audio track. The fact that I managed to reply in a polite and proper fashion was more fortunate circumstance of autopilot than anything else, because the rest really was blinking and half-wheezing/squeaking. Sigh. *buries face in hands*

Oh, he doesn't get to keep the binder. I'm just showing it to him. It's actually been really fun, making it, compiling the reviews and highlighting the smart stuff/honest critique/whatever and adding my own $0.02 as well. People have been saying such lovely things, it's been mostly a pleasure.

My roommate heard my end of the conversation, and I more or less filled her in when she asked. Just that there was a record signing and that you're not prone to fangirling out and how gorgeous he's been looking and how I lamented not being there to see it for myself. Also, my roommate is totally a music dork, too, is dating the lead singer of a band, and understands completely. *g* I wouldn't have mentioned it otherwise.

I know you added the video, but what I really wanted to hear was the accompanying audio. I'm sure you were absolutely darling and cordial in your stunned happiness.

Oh, don't feel the need to explain fangirling out on him to me. I know how gorgeous he is, I now what it's like to be the only person he's listening to even for a moment - I'm still surprised I got everything out that I did in Tampa. But go you! Like I said, I'm sure you were charming. And JC! You got to be in proximity to the Chasez, yo, and that's just never bad.
