Home, for better or worse.

The Good
-my mom and brother (who is growing up to be such the gent I have to pinch him to see if he's real)
-snuggling my puppy
-the spiff new pool table
-sleeping in my luxury ocean liner of a soft, warm bed
-sleeping
-the prospects of the beach, ice skating, and seeing Iggy and Ehnes
-everyone telling me I've lost weight, which they seem bent on remedying

The Bad
-seeing my father tomorrow night, who managed to ruin all the mellowness I've stocked up in the past two days with one ten-minute conversation
-my stepfather, who drinks too much and gets stupid and verbally abusive
-still living out in Bumfucktown, USA

So business as usual. *rolls eyes* If nothing else, I hope to make enough money to live as far away from here as humanly possible and never need to call any of them for it.

Anyway.

Coooooper! I got your package just before leaving and eee! Honey, all the footage you mentioned couldn't have totaled two discs, and you send me five?! *wallow* *smooch*

Had a lovely lunch with [livejournal.com profile] flytoflight. We talked things life and fannish alike, and she may have mentioned something to the tune of Disney employees getting discounts on certain medical procedures at Orlando-area clinics, which I quickly repressed as it actually was the happiest place on earth for me for a long while.

Amusing: My right arm is sunburned, as is Miranda's left as well as her neck. Guess who sat on which side of the car for the four-hour drive with rolled-down windows. *g*

Nothing much has happened in the past few days. My brother fortuitously came into some electronics and gifted me with a Palm IIIe, which I've been petting and playing with pretty much nonstop. It's so shiny! And clever! And came with a keyboard and I'm pretty much in dork heaven.

My goal for the break - to read Order of the Phoenix - is progressing nicely thanks to a fit of insomnia last night resulting in my reading about 50 pages of Prisoner of Azkaban. I've been sorting footage (always good fun), wallowing in Helen's fic (always good, if not necessarily fun), watching lots of Dennis Miller's new show (fun and educational!) I even had green apples, Camembert cheese, and white wine for lunch! Must be vacation. Mmm.

For what it's worth, I still don't think JC should open for Britney, for a myriad reasons about which I was going to write an essay, but the JJB thread, in which many people made excellent points (gasp!) was deleted without my having had a chance to save it. Mostly, my contentions centered around his getting the tabloid kind of press without having the kind of people who would appreciate his music hearing it - suffice it to say as much satisfaction as Schiz and I are feeling about calling the collaboration, I'm not sorry we'll only be making the shirts in mourning.

Also, thanks for accepting me for the Dancestar gig, Seatfiller, but an ETA and dress code information (not to mention an address) would also be super.

*lol* Some of that stuff is long! RTC alone is over one disc. You have many happy sdb hours ahead of ya, *grin*. There a couple that have annoying spazz moments throughout but it's unfortunately not fixable, at least with my level of knowledge. You get it sometimes when ripping the mpeg frames out of vcd dat files. Still watchable if you are gung-ho enough, heh.

I don't think I've ever been any other way about these boys. *hugs* Thanks again, and good to see your out of the woodwork!
