Dwayne said I have "shampoo commercial hair." It's apparently doing that slow-motion-flowy thing as I turn my head. It really has gotten very long, hasn't it?

Late night at the office - all the copy editors had to stay after and pitch in as the night editor never showed. Casey's gonna get a talking-to bright and early tomorrow.

Did I ever tell y'all about my father pushing me to try Internet dating? Well, his latest scheme is even better - he wants me to singlehandedly lead a media crusade to take down Donald Trump. Never a dull moment with that man.

So let me get this right. JC added another performance in Chicago. On the same night. At the same venue. Five hours later. o_O *keels over d-e-d from vicarious pre-emptive exhaustion*

Reading dismal epic Lambs. Hooker!AU at that! So sad.

Big thanks to everyone who took the time to write reviews/take pictures/record media/share it all with the rest of us. I'm so glad y'all had such a great experience, and very happy for Chris that he's found this new thing for himself, too.

Two weeks!

Firstly, I might be a little in love with your icon.

It's funny that you mention Green Bird - the episode that's in, actually the very scene that plays over, is one of the first things I ever saw of the series, and specifically what prompted my subject last night. It still gets me every time. Though in my weaker moments, so does See You Space Cowboy. I'm big on jazz music, Yoko Kanno and I were pretty much love the first notes in, but the whole of his work on that series is very much, as you said, genius.

thanks, from the icon-making of evil_man (still cant do the head thingy), he's really good. It's my fav.

Yoko Kanno make me like jazz, cos firstly, I thought it's gonna be boring, and well, too soothing that I might fall asleep, but it's not! If Want It All Back is any indication. She did what Norah Jones never did to me, hence, my genius declaration.

And I could never, ever listen to See You Space Cowboy or Blue without a river of tear, damm you Spike. mwah!

Norah Jones is a very different kind of Jazz from Yoko Kanno. Yoko Kanno's more big-band jazz, stuff that was big in the 1940s, and also some of the 20s stuff. Basically, the swing era of Jazz, none of this 'lite' stuff she plays. Which has its place, but it doesn't even compare. Check our Louis Prima and Benny Goodman for more, to name two off the top of my head.

Spike rocks so hard. I was introduced to Cowboy Bebop at an anime convention in Orlando years ago and they screened the last two episodes, so it sucks that I knew how it ended, but damn if it didn't break my heart just as hard all the same.

wow! In which made it sooo perfect cos Bebop, I forgot that guy's name back in Harlem, in which you just play whatever you want to play without any musical rules, just let your fingers do the music... It was in 1940s? That type of genre is bebop, and gah, I love it how they tied everything together, even to the music.

And you can hear the swing influence in the way Yoko Kanno arranged her sax piece in a couple of songs off the soundtrack. And dude, thanks for the recs, I will check 'em out, since I fall in love with this type of genre, just wow.

Spike Spiegel, a friend recommend it to me, and I went to another friend, who let me watched his complete dvd series. I watched the first 4, and the last two, and yes, I know the ending. Then, I bought the complete set, and ya know how it will end, but you don't want it to end, cos the interaction and the chemistry between the Bebop's crew... wow! They had fun, they've been through so much together, but man, it's just... the greatest 25 episodes ever.
