I'm in the market for a digital camera, something convenient-sized (read: able to sneak it into concerts), with at least three megapixel resolution, preferably with the ability to take video as well. Internal autofocus would be fab, as well as not having to hold down the exposure button for three centuries to take a picture, as I seem to do a fair bit of flash-action photography. Anyone have recs besides Canon's PowerShot?

So on Tuesday, we had the fake video, and now there's some sort of fandom-wide mystery kerfuffle that not even the Board of Doom has the 411 on? Y'all, summer's just begun, but glad to see we're all on the ball here.

Mail call! For all my hour and a half drives to civilization and the same back again, Sean Bean reading King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table! ghrfsdkbfakbff! *snogs [livejournal.com profile] ink_stain* And big hugs to [livejournal.com profile] roncha78 - you don't know how happy that picture from the hotel room in Boston made me (additionally, if any of you ladies also in the picture - Liz, Rhys, A, Schiz - don't have a copy, I'd be happy to scan it.) Must.get.frames. Also, send out those packages that have been ready since before you left school, lazy.

Off to lunch, finish the second night of Sunset, and figure out this new webspace so the picspamming can begin.

I ADORE my Sony DSC-P10 (i don't know if they still make it, i think the P92 is the replacement). It is 5.0 megapixels with mpeg capability. If you have seen the Grease MPEGS that is what I took it on

I know I have them *somewhere* but I haven't watched them yet. *makes a note to dig through her external drive* Thanks for the rec! And the pictures, are you happy with the color quality? And how strong is the flash? How expandable is the memory?

I like the color quality. Here are the pics I took in NYC at the JC Irving Plaza show, i never deleted the ones that weren't worth keeping, but i think they came out pretty good for being several people left and taking most photos by holding it above my head! http://groups.msn.com/jensfantasticphotos/irvingplazajc1219.msnw
As for the flash... i was 9th row for Britney and the few pics i took before being told to put it away came out clear. I currently have a memory stick that is really two 128s. they didn't make the regular 256 when I got it, although they do now, and make up to a 1 GIG! I can get up to 6 minutes of HQ footage on each 128 (there is a switch on the stick) or 90 minutes in the lower quality.

I'm kind of insanely in love with my Canon A-70. You saw the pics and mpegs I got off of it at the Chris concert, right? It has one of the best lenses on the market and therefore takes clearer pictures than cameras with a higher resolution. It is also one of the lest expensive, both for the camera and the memory media. With a 2.2 gig card, it can get 3 HOURS of mpegs on the highest quality. :drools:

It also has quick shutter features which will allow you to take like 2304872034871 shots in a few seconds, a panorama feature and lots of other fun toys.

So in love!

Ooh, that sounds good. How happy are you with its zoom capabilities, though? Do you have to be relatively close to something to get a good shot?

I haven't had a problem yet. Then again, I haven't used it a whole lot for far away shots. The few that I have are great quality. There are also other lenses available for it and filters, which is cool.

this is the second post today talking about some kerfuffle that's happened and I've missed it. Damn it for being away for one day. Someone want to fill me in?

Nobody knows! No, really, no one has any clue as to what in the world is going on. Some vague mutterings about Lance being left out of mention somewhere, by someone, allegedly? Yeah, that's all I've been able to make of it.

Hah, I was going to rec the Canon PowerShot. :-P

How bout a Canon Elph? They're tiny and take great photos.

I didn't rule out Canon entirely, just trying to play the field with other options. I'm not always happy with the color quality and definitely not the audio quality of the video clips on the Canons, but maybe the never models are better in that respect. Either way, I've got two weeks to do all the nutty research. *takes a deep breath*

The camera I'm currently lusting after is Pentax's Optio S4i. (http://www.pentaxusa.com/products/cameras/camera_specs.cfm?productid=18233) 4 megapixels, 3xoptical & 4x digital zoom, autofocus, ability to record video/audio to full capacity of memory card, ability to record audio on it's own, and the best part? It's only 4.2 oz. with batteries/memory card and here are it's dimensions: 3.3 x 2.0 x 0.8 inches, which is small enough to fit inside an Altoids tin. No, really, you can put it inside and close the lid, and ta-dah! camera is effectively hidden.

Schiz is the only one who has a copy of that pic because I sent her one when I mailed you yours. I just wanted this pic to myself when I took it and I didn't even think to ask if anyone would like a copy.. :)

I had a camera! I remember us taking more than one picture! How I didn't end up with a print before is unfathomable, but thank you again for sending me this one. It's definitely going in a frame.
