Have had Robbie Williams in my head all day, and the blamee knows who she is. *hugs you tight* The chorus of this song is one of the prettiest things ever. And does he ever sing about anything but sex and the shallowness of the music industry? ;)
In no news at all, I adore JC and the new video. It's so delightfully tacky, reveling in its own incongruity, like a self-aware, ironic, renegade slice of 80s New Wave. The nuclear explosions! Tossing the salad! Molly! You've really got to be trying hard not to love this boy.
Speaking of which, on an interesting note, my brother (having walked in on me watching A.D.I.D.A.S. then sitting for Some Girls) has determined that JC is "pimp." *snicker*
Didn't get that Samsonite I mentioned earlier and instead spent the better part of today online looking at backpacks. I'm really leaning toward something nice, a dark brown leather something that looks like it could hold spellbooks or beach towels depending on the day. It's gonna put me out a nice sum, yes, but the messenger bag I have now? Got it exactly five years ago this summer (coincidentally, on my last big overseas trek). I'm due for a nice new everyday knapsack.
Yay for my mom - she passed her real estate broker exam! Even her boss called us to personally congratulate her - apparently, many college grads fail it two or three or even more times. She passed her second time out despite having an English vocabulary on a level not beyond the evening news.
In more non-news. I swam today. Lots of laps in the backyard pool. I'm sure that'll come to collect its dues tomorrow morning.
And while I've said this pretty much every other post for the past week, thank you,
without_me, for bringing me along on your concert extravaganza. How many people know of my deep and abiding love for Let's Go Crazy? That really is a silly, silly skit which only works when JC's feeling loopy enough to pull it off. Dear Goodbye was especially beautiful tonight, as was Everything You Want, which I've loved from the first and have only grown more attached. And then Shake It, and I get a little squeeful thrill every time he hits those high notes. I'll do it 'til you're satisfied is not only one of the best lyrics ever, but at that decibel, fuck yeah he sells it, too. A, you're crazy and wonderful and I could not be more grateful to call you my friend.

Congrats to your mom. Those tests are very, very hard. I passed on my third try. I knew I should have stuck with journalism, ;-)
Backyard pool. How I covet you. That's the only way I'd go swimming these days. I shall not be seen in a public pool.

Date: May 15th, 2004 07:58 am (UTC)She's been studying and studying, reading books and taking practice exams and having her first attempt hanging over her head, but she did it! I'm so intensely proud of everything she's done. And yay for you, too! And heh, journalism requires an awful lot less legal jargon, math, and sales, so my left-brained, antisocial self will take it gladly.
Backyard pools, man. We haven't had one in seven years, and this is long enough to do more than three strokes to reach the other side. It's good fun, and my biggest puppy is so cute, circling the pool and barking at me because she can't swim and is worried something will happen. *loves*

Date: May 15th, 2004 08:05 am (UTC)And heh, nah, I wouldn't know anything about obsessive personalities. *averts her eyes from the stacks of pictures, magazines, video tapes, media CDs, and other miscellany scattered all about her room*

Date: May 15th, 2004 08:19 am (UTC)Wish I had a DVD burner. I would burn you the two DVDs I have. But I'll write down on my list of things to burn some Robbie CDs for you. You'll love em. Swing When You're Winning is my favorite of Robbie's. That's all the Frank/Dean/etc. music.
I've now pimped Robbie out to my dad, mom, mom's BF, and grandmother! There's enough Robbie for everyone. (To shamelessly steal a line from the pimptastic JT).

Date: May 15th, 2004 08:10 am (UTC)And while I've got you here - after my program in Paris ends, I've got about two weeks to jetset around Europe before making my way back to the States, and everyone's recommended Munich over Berlin if I only have time to visit one, so I was wondering if we could hook up somewhere in there? I don't have firm dates beyond after the 3rd of July and before the 13th, but if you're able, willing, and available, I'd love to see you (andtakeno-shameadvantageofyourlocalexpertise). :)

Date: May 15th, 2004 09:04 am (UTC)My chorus here in Munich is recording a CD on July 10 so I am angling as hard as possible to get to stay that long, but in the end it's not up to me, or even really my husband. It may be that by the first week of July I no longer have an apartment here but I'm staying with friends, just until after the recording is complete. If that's the case I'll gladly spend time with you in Munich although unfortunately I won't be able to offer full hospitality.
I love playing tourguide here, it's really such a wonderful city. I really hope I'm here when you come! Let's keep in touch during your program and see how things stand at the end of June.
